Solar energy is energy derived from sunlight. The sun powers our planet, providing the necessary energy to keep our environment and energy sectors growing. The amount of sunlight that reaches the earth’s atmosphere is enough to power all of our needs, and then some. According to the US Department of Energy, 173,000 terawatts of solar energy strike the earth continuously, which is more than 10,000 times the world’s total energy use. The sun is a free, sustainable, clean resource. Solar energy can be used to provide heat, light, and other electricity needs. In some regions of the world people facing so many problems like, the lack of electricity gas and other fossil fuels. People can’t afford costly systems to get hot water for their needs at home & offices. A huge difference has been observed in the environmental criteria of different technologies and solar, where solar energy is considered as a reliable. This is due to the external cost of technologies like natural gas and other fossil fuels, which is three times higher than that of solar power. The overall result of environmental criteria of solar is much higher than that of the fossil fuel power plants. Generally, renewable sources have been termed the best solution to the growing of energy needs of the world. Every now and then, there is fuel/electricity shortage supply to thermal power plants due to payment issues or problems faced due to poorer gas supply to the public and private sectors as well as industries in the winter. This in turn brings power outages, making the domestic and industrial customers suffer and affecting the daily life in winter season. This has had a depressing impact on the industrial sector as well due to high tariff rates along with high power outages. Focusing renewable to improve the overall energy mix in the country will improve energy security. According to the current issues & problems, this research project is to create an automatic water heating system through convex lenses which is totally based on sun radiations. Convex lenses are used for the heating of water in very simple and useful way where the convex lenses directly absorb the sun light radiations and will convert into the thermal energy for the heating of water. Convex lenses can help the radiation to directly hit on the water and start heating. The project is designed in such a way that the lenses are automatically follow the Sun using stepper motor according to the latitude and longitude of earth for different regions.

Project Objectives

  1. The main objective of the Research is to save natural gas and utilize solar energy.
  2. Cost effective and environmental friendly because cost is also one of an important parameter here that in some areas of the world or even some countries are in poor worth’s so by using this system, there will be a big difference in the prices as compared to other.

Project Implementation Method

Project implementation:                                                            

Solar energy is an abundant energy available in worldwide. Solar energy or sun energy can be shown as the radiations from the sun are capable to produce heat, having chemical reactions and also use to generate the electricity. The current research shows that the sun rays falls on the array of convex lenses which are placed on the top of tank and connected to the stepper motor. where stepper motor is also connected to the solar power supply. Stepper motor is used to change the movement of lenses array according to the sun rays. When the sun rays falls on the lenses these will converge on single focal point and fall on the water layer to start heating the water, where the temperature sensors are placed inside and outside of the tank to show tank and atmospheric temperature. The temperature sensors are connected to the nodemcu (wifi controlling device) through the arduino software in which nodemcu record the reading of temperature sensor and give commands to the stepper motor. Thermocol sheet is placed round the tank which will keep the water as long time.

  1. It is a Free Energy resource for poor countries and peoples.
  2. Easy installation after getting completion as compare to other system.
  3. Safe for environment.
  4. After completing this project needs low maintenance.
  5. Reduced Consumption of Electricity, gases and fossil fuels.

After Successful completion Modern system works efficiently in winter season.

This project presents efforts to explore the potential of convex lens to be used for water heating system through the free source from solar energy. Conventional energy solutions are necessary in developing countries as current heating water methods are becoming hazardous to the environment, economic development and the overall health and wealth of the population. This project helps the third world countries in saving the electricity, gas & fossil fuels which is consumed by the geysers and for daily life uses.
