Automatic Object Sorting and Classification
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryIn this advance era, automatic sorting is highly desirable in approximately every industry. Its main objective is to reduce human efforts and time which can ultimately raise its efficiency. However, perfect sorting machine is still in progress which should be flexible and compatible in design. In this work, the proposed sorting machine is able to sort by using conveyer belt, Rasberry pi and IR sensor to detect the shape of an object and also classify in three different shapes and finally sort the object separately in assigned actuator by using servo motors. The proposed multi sorting system is able to sort 3 objects of 3 different shapes are sorted with 100% accuracy within the time interval of 5 seconds. The proposed model could be implemented in any industry. This model can also produce list of sorted objects through enabled sorting program commands.
Project ObjectivesThe main objective of our project is to design the mechanism of Object Classification by using image processing based on shape and Sorting using DC Servo Motors. If sorting is done manually, it will be extremely tedious, time-consuming and monotonous job so it is very essential to build machines and automate them to ease the job of humans and make every work precise and optimized.
Project Implementation MethodOur working mechanism comprises of objects passing through conveyer belt and their detection according to their shape and sorted by assigned actuator through DC servo motors.
1-The system is powered ON and the objects are fed on conveyer belt.
2-Once an object arrives on the conveyer belt, IR sensors detect the object and differentiate among three shapes (Rectangular, circle and Irregular) by using trained programming in Raspberry pi.
3-As the object is recognized, the object is then sorted by using actuators. Number of actuators are 3.
4-If the object is rectangular shaped, it is pushed by actuator 1. Similarly for circle, actuator 2 and for irregular shape actuator 3 is functioned.
Benefits of the ProjectAutomation has gateway to the growth of industries in recent years. For better performance of industrial process automated machines are used. This project reduces human effort, time consumed, and increases efficiency also improves the time to market the products.
