Our project "Automated CNC Wood Engraving Machine" is used for making of beautiful xylography or calligraphy on wood with the help of drill automated with CNC..This is divided into two Parts
- Software
- Hardware
Software side, We design xylographic images and set toolpath and set instrustions for controlling of CNC
Hardware Side, Components are interfaced with controller. Controller ready instruction and implement on Wood.

- Cost Efficent and Very Productive
Firstly, At software side, we use Inkscape for designing of xylographic Images. Then it is futher need to set the toolpath/dimmentions of that image according to wood quality. Afterwards, This image is converted to G-Code.
Secondly, In order to upload the G-code to CNC Controller , we use grbl controller software. Where all the instrustions are sent to CNC Controller. Here we see the vector form of designed image and confirm the actual movement of CNC Machine. Then set the bit amd baud rate for communication of Hardware with Software.
Thirdly, at hardware side, we use Arduino Mega/UNO interfaced with GRBL CNC shield. This will be the major part of this project. This will be known as the Controller of CNC. As Arduino knows how to read G-Code with the help of library. So Arduino Reads the G-Code and send instructions to CNC shield in the form voltage signals. These Instrustion are used by CNC shield to control 3- stepper Motors (X ,Y and Z-axis). The CNC Dril is connected with Z-axis stepper motor frame.
Arduino Mega/UNO is used for interfacing of hardware with Software with the help of Data Bus.
