Automated Waste Segregator
As our project Title is “Automated Waste Segregator”, is basically a smart waste sorting machine which segregates different types of wastes. It consist of software system based on Image Processing and hardware consist of camera, raspberry pi, bin etc. The goal of our project is to design a trash bin which work on real time Image Processing which is very useful for public parks and at domestic level. The waste is classified in to two types as biodegradable and non-biodegradable. These types are further classified in to two categories depend on their reusability. The main reason behind the project is the big problem statement. With the rise in urbanization waste management problem increases day by day. Proper waste management is required which can play a vibrant role to have an ecological environment. This paper aims to analyze existing research presented in the studies around the world.
•Waste recycling is very difficult because different types of wastes are not collected separately.
•We will be making a waste bin which play a big role in solving this problem.
By reading different existing studies we have to done the image processing which work on real time. Firstly we place a camera on bin which take snap when we place something on it (trash). On the back end we did machine learning in which we trained maximum data we provided to it. The machine learning is based on the algorithm CNN. The camera take real time pictures and extract the features through machine learning either it is biodegradable (paper, organic waste) or non-biodegradable (plastic, metallic waste).four baskets are placed in the bin according to the reusability. Raspberry pi is used to link all these components i.e DC motors, camera, software etc.
It can used in public parks and at domestic level. It segregates the waste at initial level at maximum accuracy accept the mix waste because we use low cost product. It reduces man labor up to 60 to 70% and just initial cost which is very effective. Its cost is reduced when it have proper market and place accurately.
