Using Nanoparticles for coating of dental implants to enhance Osteointegration.
Nanoparticles are suitable candidates for coating of Stainless steel based dental implants due to their unique properties such as biocompatibility, mechanical strength, low cost, availability and great corrosion resistance. All these properties aid to greater durability and sustainability. Dental implant has demonstrated clinical success over recent years despite its major problem due to implant fixation that leads to bacterial infection and rejection of the implant. Recently, nanoparticle-coatings have been reported to have beneficial properties to improve implant fixation and increase the success rate. Out project aim to use coating of Cerium Oxide Nanoparticles implant surface in order increase the functionality, improve the
stability and fixation of the implant. Also, it shall enhance Osseo-integration and Antimicrobial Property of the implant which collectively makes the implant market competitive & successful.
The main 3 Objectives of Our project:
Initially selection of suitable material as implant i.e Sheet of 316 Stainless steel on which coating of nanoparticles through electrodeposition method. The nanoparticles we have selected for coating are Cerium Oxiode Nanoparrticles.
Synthesis Of CeO2 Nps by Wet chemical Reduction Method:
Now Coating of Cerium Oxide Nanoparticles On 316L-SS through Electrodeposition Method. 2 sheets were used Zinc plate and 316L-SS sheet (as anode and cathode).
In last After done with coating we will go with characterization Techniques/Electrochemical Study.
Techniques:
This test is conducted to understand the surface morphology of coating.
This test is conducted for the Phase analysis of Cerium Oxide coating on 31SL-SS.
Electrochemical Study:
This is for corrosion study it includes two tests:
The key benefits of Coating CeO2 Nanoparticles on Dental Implants(316L-SS):
Designing an implant and modifying its success by means of suitable coating of nanomaterials is a great addition to pre-existing list of implants being designed by Biomedical Engineer.
Coated dental Implant with nanoparticles having good biocompatiblity, antibacterial properties will enhance osseointegration and promotes cell proliferation and one can get easily treated eduntiliasm(tooth loss).
