Project Title

Automated Multi Stage RO System

Project Area of Specialization Mechanical EngineeringProject Summary

As the demand for pure drinking water has increased with the growing population, the shortage of clean drinking water has gradually increased all over the world and especially in Pakistan, it is being observed that businesses, households and other private institutions are setting up commercial water stations or RO filters in their for water consumption.
Since water is becoming a scarce resource we aim to help introduce clean water for drinking to communities. For this we plan on incorporating automation to a multi-stage reverse osmosis water filtration system.

Project Objectives

Our goal is to make a working reverse Osmosis system that is more effective than conventional commercially available RO systems. With high gallon per day production ratio (50 gallons per day) we plan to achieve an automated PLC controlled Reverse Osmosis system to fulfill the needs of clients who may want to make their system affordable and off grid whilst not sacrificing efficiency.

Project Implementation Method

The project we propose is to build a water treatment system based on multi stage reverse osmosis technology.
Reverse osmosis is a water purification process that uses a semi-permeable membrane (synthetic lining) to filter out unwanted molecules and large particles such as contaminants and sediments like chlorine, salt, and dirt from drinking water. In addition to removing contaminants and sediments, our reverse osmosis system will also have UV light purification stage added which can denature bacteria, viruses and thus remove microorganisms – which will make our water fully drinkable . In theory it will get water clean down to a molecular level, leaving only pure H2O behind.

Benefits of the Project

Because Reverse Osmosis has the ability to remove 95-99 percent of total dissolved solids (TDS) in drinking water, as well as improve the odor, appearance, and overall taste of your water, it’s no mystery why many restaurants use RO-filtered water in their cooking. Cooking with filtered water that is free of impurities can dramatically impact the flavor of coffee, tea, soup and most items made with water. Installing an RO system in your home will give your household clean, great-tasting water to drink and cook with. In fact, many families have found that after installing a reverse osmosis drinking water system, family members tend to drink more water and consume less soda or other sugary drinks. Although water is processed at municipal treatment plants, many people want to take their drinking water a step further to ensure that leadchlorinefluoride, and other impurities are removed. Reverse Osmosis water filtration has proven to be unrivaled when it comes to removing impurities from water in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Learn more about what a Reverse Osmosis Filter system can remove.Investing in a Reverse Osmosis drinking water system means you won't have to buy bottled water, fill up water jugs outside the grocery store, or pay for a water jug delivery service. Reverse Osmosis filtration can produce clean, filtered water for pennies per gallon. While some water filtration and purification systems are cumbersome and time consuming to maintain, a reverse osmosis filtration system is quite easy. Simply change out the filters and membranes according to your system’s manual. And if you buy from ESP Water Products, we'll send you a reminder when it's time to order a replacement filter! Most filters are replaced every six to 12 months and the membrane should be replaced every two years. This length can vary depending on the water quality in your area and how much you use your RO system
