the developed system overcomes current limitations of classroom response systems as it allows the lecturer: to visualise the responses of the students immediately, without requiring to interrupt the lecture. the main idea of our product is to display visual cues over students head that would depict their current status and that only the lecturer would be able to see through an AR device. initially, a mobile application is developed and the teacher will use his mobile phone to visualize the response thus arising some limitations (but in the next phase, based on budgeting scenario, the system can be integrated on some smart glass.) Students would then be provided with a communication channel "student Response App"  that would allow them to provide feedback about the lecture using the app or solve the quiz in "test mode". Students interact with the system using their mobile devices, while the lecturer controls both system/database and "Instructor AR App" using cellular device along with 3D VR box.  The system processes this information together with the video captured by the lecturer’s AR device and augments lecturer’s vision accordingly with representations of the students’ states and notes on the current lecturer activity.

the system can provide a user-friendly, efficient and a much cheaper solution as compared to the state of the art system while maximizing lecturer productivity and catering some of the key sustainable development goals

thus creating an environment which promotes quality education while minimizing the paper wastage.

Project Implementation Method

the system architecture considers three different layers: Presentation, data and Bussiness layers. The presentation layer supports the lecturer in describing the lecture plan, the information he or she aims to elicit from the students during the lecture by creating simple spot tests. The communication/database layer provides students with the means to communicate with the lecturer. Finally, the Bussiness layer allows the lecturer to visualise AR representations of the feedback provided by the students. Following this architecture, the current system implementation is composed of two different modules: lecturing authoring and visualization module used by the lecturer and student feedback module, supporting each layer.

Benefits of the Project

The main outcome of our system is to provide a continuous flow of information from the audience which was previously unavailable while saving time and money thus encourage quality education. moreover, its application is not just limited to a classroom but can be utilized to train a large workforce, for people with speech impediments.

The use of augmented lecture feedback and evaluation system in a classroom could report: (a) improvements in the communication between students and lecturer, as students can communicate with the lecturer without fellow students noticing and (b) adaptation of the lecture content and pace based on the knowledge evidence provided by the students. Als (c) it will save a lot of lecturer time by providing an automated lecture evaluation system in an environment-friendly way i.e,  visible reduction in paper use,
