Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryThis project focused on aircraft gyroscopic instruments in which we will show how gyroscope works. In order to demonstrate and perform some of the lab task on this instrument, we will form its mechanical structure with center rotating disk, disk rotates with brushless dc motor. Three gimbals arrange in a way to depict three rotational movement along longitudinal axis, lateral axis and vertical axis. Encoder is placed along the three axis as to pick angle across each axis. Data fetch by encoders is processed in microcontroller and attitude is displayed on output device. Speed of brushless dc motor is manually adjusted to demonstrate the effect of rotating disk speed over angles and rotational motion.
Project ObjectivesOur objective is to build an educational purpose avionics system for the basic awareness of the aircraft’s orientation using mechanical gyroscope which is too much costly around Pakistan and Pakistan can’t manufacture it. As a social avionics engineer we decided to give the society an experimental avionics system. We are developing three gyroscopic instrument for demonstration and lab experiment purpose our project can be used for the research work for students in Flight controls lab and to test algorithm of guidance, navigation and control at very low budget.
Project Implementation MethodStep I) Design and build mechanical structure of the system
Step II) Assemble disk, encoders and brushless dc motor with proper alignment
Step III) Fetch raw data from encoders and process it into use full information
Step IV) Display it on output device.
Benefits of the Projectit is used as a lab instrument and will help to train engineers
