Antenna Trainer
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryThe proposed antenna simulator can simulate the received signal to display the signal parameters i.e.,
- 2D/3D radiation pattern graph
- frequency vs amplitude graph
- signal strength, gain
- 3dB-beamwidth
- bearing information/angle
on the computer screen. Furthermore, it will be able to align the receiver with the transmitter by using the bearing information (BI) in three modes i.e.
- Using the manual alignment with already known BI
- using received signal’s BI message
- using the estimated BI from the signal(i.e., automatic direction finding (ADF)).
- Design a antenna trainer which work on C band (5.15 GHz)
- Design a antenna trainer with Automatic Direction Finding so it can align manually
- To show all the parameters mentioned above on computer
- To design a upgrade of current antenna trainers
- To design the receiver and align it with the transmitter
- To design under mentioned antennas with the trainer
- Pyramidal Horn Antenna
- Yagi-Uda Antenna
- Micro strip Patch Antenna
- Micro strip Array Antenna
- Parabolic Reflector Antenna
- Helical Antenna
- Di-pole Antenna
- Double Di-pole Array Antenna
In our project we will introduce the idea of ADF( Automatic direction finder) in the trainer so it can aign it self automatically with the transmitter rather than manually alignment of transmitter and receiver
We will start with the design and calculation for the receiver end of the trainner by designing a super heterodyne receiver for a 5.15 GHz frequency and then implement it on hardware
Then we will design all the antenna which will be used with the trainer after completation of both these we will start the work on how to install ADF in the trainer .
And finally we will show all the received parameters on the computer screen .
Benefits of the Project- It will be trainer in which receiver will automatically align itself with transmitter
- It will reduce the manual work because alignment will be done automatically
- It will be a low cost antenna trainer as compare to available trainer in market
The transmitter and receiver units have been built in power supplies and hence each is powered from 220 VAC
50Hz supply. Various antennas are mounted directly on the receiver for pattern measurement. It is stand alone,
versatile table top system that provides hands on experimentation, understanding, working of Antennas, and
plot their polar plots without any high frequency equipment training system includes modular mechanical units
construction forming various antennas, transmitting unit and detector unit. Emphasis is placed on the basic
design of microwave antennas, pattern in principal planes, polarization and beam width calculation.
FINAL DELIVERABLE WILL BE
- Complete Antenna trainer
- Complete antennas
- Working ADF
- Transmitter and Receiver alignment
- Required parameters on the computer screen
