Project Summary

This paper proposes developing a mobile app to improve transportation services for buses which provides services to students. It intends to reduce the waiting time of buses for students. There will be nearby stimulating the sharing of updated information between the bus drivers and students. This application will work only on android mobile devices. It will inform the students about the exact time of arrival and departure of buses on the route. This proposed application will be used by students, their parents and drivers of buses of college and university. Any kind of changes e.g. Route, Bus, Driver will be updated in the application and Parents, Students and also Drivers will view from Application. This application will notify users in case of delays or cancelation of buses. Bus locations and routes are shown on dynamic maps using Google maps. The application is designed and tested where the students are assured that the application gives the real-time service and is very helpful for them. 

Project Objectives

The goal of this project is basically to try to change the old manual system of buses. Students were waiting their buses, locating their routes, finding their buses drivers etc. We will digitalize these all functionalities and put them into android application. Our project will mainly focus on the following objectives:

  • Bus Tracking.
  • Student Tracking.
  • Student Attendance (Only Buses).
  • Student, Driver, Parents account Approvals.
  • Bus routes management (Create, delete, Update)
  • Monthly Fee Receipts
  • Student, Drivers and Parents will view the real-time locations of their children and buses.
  • Admin panel included into the app for better facilities.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Before it, Manual buses system were used. Manual system have many drawbacks so that this system needs to be provide. This system will facilitate students, their parents and bus drivers. Admin can look up the whole activities in app. Our App consist of following parts:

STUDENTS

Students can view the bus routes and track them. If a student mistakenly miss his/her bus so he/she will open the app and our app will tell him/her about the nearest bus location. Students will get monthly details about their traveling and also get fee vouchers.

PARENTS

Parents can track their child thought out the route. They can contact admin directly in case of any emergency or query. They also receive monthly receipts about their child’s traveling which contains all the details.

BUS DRIVERS

The Bus drivers are main part of this application. They are responcible for Student’s attendance. When a student enters their bus then he receive the pop up masseage at their app about that student and now he would mark his/her attendance in system. These attendances would directly transfer to admin and no one will able to change this.

ADMIN

Admin will lookup all the activites in application. He/she will manage the Students record like Students will be added according to the permission of Admin. All the Authorities will be given to the admin.
