Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryDesigning an object tracking prototype, that would read image data and and track target objects. Furthermore, specific feature includes hitting a colored taget object with a colored ball, of same color. Required hardware will be a camera; to navigate and detect taget objects in a defined limit of field, motors; for camera and launcher movements.
Project ObjectivesTo investigate one of the various Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to drop coloured balls into same coloured boxes/bins, placed at different locations. Computer vision strategies will be used to propel and track a ball, to hit the colored target.
Project Implementation MethodMajor hardware implementation is a designed frame of iron/stell, on which all the components and rotating parts are to be installed, including:
- An iron/steel body
- Camera
- Iron/Steel chamber for loading ball
- Iron/steel ball container
- Microcontroller(s)
The success of this project can open different other alternate ways, for problem solving in industries, as so in real life – distance estimation using computer vision, target precision and real time object tracking.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe prototype consists of Python microcontroller (PyBoard) for giving control to the machine. The camera, mounted on the iron/steel frame rotates and reads data and feeds the microcontroller for processing. The ball is loaded into the chamber, after extracting visual properties, by the camera, into the chamber with the help of holder clips.
