Project Area of Specialization Information & Communication TechnologyProject SummaryIn today's world there is a huge increase in usage of cars. The use of such heavy vehicles has increased traffic congestion and thus increased road accidents. This damages property and causes loss of human life due to the unavailability of emergency prevention and security services. Completely preventing accidents is unavoidable but at least the consequences can be minimized. This project on embedded system can prevent the risk from occurring and appropriate precautionary measures are taken in this program. The ambulance service and police station can easily locate the location as the location and Google map link can be sent to their smart devices via mobile network access. The system contains the vibration sensor, IR sensor, alcohol sensor, GPS module, GSM module, LCD etc. and all these devices are connected to a central control unit (Arduino Uno). We will use the IR sensor to detect if the driver has put on the seat belt or not. The alcohol sensor helps us to determine if the driver is drunk or not. If he is too drunk, the car will give a warning and the engine will stop. The vibration sensor detects an accident and sends a signal to a small controller to keep it running. The GPS module provides us the location, speed, time and date of the exact location of the vehicle in the event of an accident. Everything may be fine after a simple accident so that the driver can re-inform the ambulance service and police station in that case.
Project ObjectivesThe objectives of the thesis project are:
- To prevent the accident which happens because of use of alcohol by the driver(s)
- To warn the driver if he/she forgets to put on seat belt
- Increase the user safety and passenger comfort.
To achieve the above-mentioned objectives, an electronic embedded system will be designed which will be able to provide the spontaneous message and exact location to police and ambulance in order to recover victims.
Project Implementation MethodIn this program initially, we will work to prevent car accidents and even after that
- All preventive measures shall be taken in case of an accident is detected by the system.
- After car accident detection, the system automatically reports to the ambulance.
- police station and ambulance service without wasting time may reach so that the injured does not lose his/her life due to delayed rescue.
- The system is installed in the car. As a precautionary measure against car accident, engine control and buzzer, lead lights etc. are used for warning during blocking.
- All devices are connected to a central microcontroller unit (Arduino Uno).
- The alcohol sensor helps us to see if the driver is drunk or not. If he is very much drunk, the car provides a warning and the engine stops working.
- GPS module provides location, speed, time, date, and location of the car in real time. In the event of an accident, the accelerometer detects it.
- The location of the accident is determined using GPS, and ultimately sends the information to ambulance and police services with the help of the GSM module.
- The message received on the cell phone contains the scene of the accident in the form of a google map link that will assist to emergency services such as to reach the injured early and may save the lives.

Benefits of our project are the following.
- Along with the stopping of vehicle after a driver is found drunk, he can be fined automatically by connecting central system with traffic control room.
- Implementation of proper safeguards to prevent reoccurrences.
- It helps to minimize the accidents that happen on road which causes loss of human lives.
Accident prevention, detection and reporting system saves lives by reducing the time.

Firstly, we design the embedded system circuit on proteus where we will check the results that whether the system and components are working properly and providing the desired results or not. Later, we will make complete hardware of the project accordingly.
