Accident Prevention And Detection System
In highly populated countries, people lose their lives because of accidents and poor emergency facilities every day. These lives could have been saved if medical facilities are provided at the right time. This project implies a system which is a solution to this drawback, when a vehicle meets with an accident immediately, accelerometer module detects the signal, and it is sent to the Arduino microcontroller programmed by C programming language. Arduino
sends an alert message through the GSM module including the location to the police station and a rescue team. So the police can immediately trace the location through the GPS modem after receiving the information. LCD is used to display location message from GPS module. The system is simulated and practically designed by the use of required hardware components and the results are satisfied with the expectation.
Nowadays, a suitable safety of road accident
prevention and detection system is becoming one of the
most important things for the future generation. There is an
increasing the death of people because of road accidents. The demand for this process is to save life just on time after the accident has occurred. There are so many ways to know the location after the accident has occurred. This GPS and GSM based automatic accident detection system is also one of the less delay time and the most effective system for this present days.
In this project, Arduino is used for controlling whole the process with a GPS Receiver and GSM module. GPS Receiver is used for detecting coordinates of the vehicle, GSM module is used for sending the alert SMS with the coordinates and the link to Google Map. Accelerometer namely ADXL335 is used for detecting accident or sudden change in any axis. And mobile application is also used for displaying status messages or coordinates. When we are ready with our hardware after programming, we can install it in our vehicle and power it up. Now whenever there is an accident, the car gets tilt and accelerometer changes his axis values. These values read by Arduino and checks if any change occurs in any axis. If any change occurs then Arduino reads coordinates by extracting $GPGGA (Global Positioning system fix data) String from GPS module data and send SMS to the predefined number to the police or ambulance or family member, police and rescue team with the location coordinates of accident place. The message also contains a Google Map link to the accident location, so that location can be easily tracked. When we receive the message then we only need to click the link and we will redirect to the Google map and then we can see the exact location of the vehicle. Speed of Vehicle, in knots (1.852 KPH), is also sent in the SMS and displayed on the mobile screen.
Accident alert are given to the nearest control station on the very first moment of collision.
A message will be send to the selected contacts to the inform about accident.
The alert message will include the GPS location, so that the rescue action become very fast.
A map will be displayed for the easy identification of the accident location.
The two objectives of the smart accident detection and prevention system 1) accident prevention and 2) accident detection. Based on the survey, 1.3 million people die every year due to roadway accidents. The main reason for this type of accident is speeding. So, the proposed SADPS focused on finding the speed parameters of each vehicle and giving notification to speeding vehicles through SMS that can be used to prevent accidents. The second objective is accident detection. For this task, each vehicle accelerometer values will be taken by the SADPS system. When an accident occurs, the location as well as the related details are sent to the SADPS system. This proposed system takes the immediate remedy by alerting the family member, nearby police station and rescue team. This system is fully automatic.
