Road accident has become a huge concern in our everyday life. Due to this huge amount of population many people are facing very high road accident fatality and official figure indicates 60 deaths per 10,000 motor vehicles. It is estimated that many bike riders die every-day in road accident and due to insufficient information regarding to the accidents those riders cannot be saved as they merely find help after the occurrence of the accident. However, with increasing number of people the motorcycles are also increasing in the roads and streets. Helmet is one of the most essential and important elements a motorcyclist must wear to avoid any possible road accidents. It ensures safety of the motorcyclist’s head from the deadly impact caused by accident and provides guarantee protection to the bike riders and provide hundred percentage user reliability. Approximately 1.35 million people die each year because of road traffic crashes. The annual fatality rate from street accidents is found to be severe. More than half of all road traffic deaths are among vulnerable road users: pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists.
So we designed a Smart Helmet to detect accident and send emergency alert to their fellow.
Unfortunately, if the driver is met with an accident using GSM and GPS system the information will be delivered immediately with their emergency contacts as well as the accident occurred location can be seen in google maps with the help of latitude and longitude of GPS coordinates in things board. So, he/she can be rescued and medical help. By this way we can reduce road accidents and save their lives. The survey demonstrates Smart helmet for accident avoidance. The helmet should be designed to reduce number of accidents in two wheelers this can be done by designing the device using IOT technology. Some sensors like IR sensor, alcohol sensor, GPS modules etc. can be used to design a cost effective and user-friendly smart helmet. The result should be accurate and should be useful to the government and society. This smart helmet can also be changed to seat belt system in case of four wheelers and can be implemented in future. If there is a large demand of this type of helmets we can manufacture whole circuit in printed circuit board, so that circuit becomes smaller and can be easily fitted into helmet.
The objective of “Smart Helmet” is to provide a method and setup for accident detection and emergency alert. The system is consist of sensors, Accelerometer, GPS and GSM and a micro-controller Arduino. Accident detection is correspond to the value of accelerometer to the processor for abnormal variations. When an accident occurs, the details are sent through a text message containing location to the emergency contacts by using GSM. The bike location is tracked using GPS.
The main objective of this project is to build and ensure a safety and costeffective system. This project is embedded with sensors modules and microcontroller. Accelerometer sensor is used to detect the accident by variation of its x, y and z axis values, the GPS to locate the position of accident and the GSM to send the message to the emergency number. This project ensures safety of the motorcyclist. The aim of smart helmet is to Provide Safety to the bike rider and emergency alert inn case of accident. So, when the bike rider crashes sensors sense and the Arduino extract GPS location data using the GPS which is interfaced with Arduino and send it to the emergency number like Hospital or family member.
The GSM-GPS module is built into the smart helmet system. The GPS part of the system detects the location where the accident has happened and shows its location in the Google maps. The GSM circuit is responsible for sending Text Message to the mobile phone of the bike rider’s family member informing that an accident has happened. So, for a scenario where an accident has taken place the bike rider’s family member will be notified that an accident has happened at location at xxx.xxxx.xxx coordinates on the Google map. Then it will be easy for the family members of the bike rider to reach the accident spot quickly and take the bike rider to the nearest hospital as soon as possible. This way the bike rider’s life can be saved.
Many people die because of not wearing the helmet. They also die because of not being able to get treatment in time. If an accident occurs at a remote place, it’s hard for the emergency service to know that an accident has occurred. Many lives can be saved simply by wearing a helmet. About 60% of deaths in an accident can be prevented just by getting treatment in time. This project will make sure that rider wears the helmet and notifies the emergency service in case of an accident.
Going digital is the imperative of today’s modern time. It makes everything easy as well as feasible. Following the same paradigm, we felt the need to make the lives of peasants as well as common person practicable but keeping in mind the simplicity of use. The simplistic approach followed in our smart helmet will enable everybody to get emergency help in case of accident occurs.
We made an Accident detection and emergancy alert using smart helmet to reduce the number of deaths in accident because if anyone wearing this helmet can ride bike or if an accident occure so the simplistic approach followed in our smart helmet will enable everybody to get emergency alert help in case of accident occurs.
We made this helmet usin Arduino, GSM, GPs and an accelerometer as well as some other components like jumper wires, lcd etc...
