In 3D eyeball tracking system, major task is to track the movement of eyeball. user will be sitting infront of webcam and system will track his eyeball movement followed by face detection. The ultimate goal is to determine where the user is looking. Our system will behave like real-time application that it will detect straight away the movement of eyeball. In our proposed system a high quality webcamera is used to detect the movement of the eyeball. It will have fast detection rate as it will detect eyeball within seconds.

Project Implementation Method

We are dealing with right, left, up and down movement of eyeball. User will sit in front of system; system will use webcam to take snap of user and apply noise removal techniques to enhance the quality of image. As eyes are feature of face, so we first need to detect face and then extract eye pair from it for processing. Before going to track eyeball, we are required to track eyeball; for this system will detect the eyeball and also give its centroid which is pupil. For tracking we have used three sub features of eye i.e. pupil, eye corners and eyelids. System will detect eye corners and both upper and lower eyelids to carry out tracking. Now these features are used to calculate position of eyeball. System will calculate distance of pupil from corners and eyelids and identify gaze position.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Eye movements can be used as an input medium in human computer interaction, specially for people with physical disability. In order to provide more convenient communation, we developed a 3D eyball tracking systemm that combines both the mouse function and keyboard functions for users practice almost all inputs without using any input device. We proposed 3D eye model to extract sub features of eye i.e. eye corners, eyelids and the 3D pupilmwhich serves as a reference  to identify points in locating eyeball positions.
