NON verbal communication:
According to exports a substantial portion of our communication is nonverbal every day we respond to thousands of nonverbal behavior including postures, facial ,expression , gestures and tone of voice .
1) Kinesics (Body movement)
Body movements are important part of public speaking ,kinesics is the study of body movements and gestures as a form of nonverbal communication. Kinesics divide into five categories:
1) Emblems:
Some gestures are related to culture, some of these cultural gestures or hand signals have a commonly acceptable use and meaning in one part of the world and can be obscene (unacceptable) in other part of the world.
2) Regulators:
Control the back and forth flow of speaking and listening, frequent gesturing is highly co related with people who were perceive by other to be leaders in small groups. Those who were leaders tended to use more shoulder and arm gesture.
3) Display of feelings:
Fallings can be displayed with or shown through face and body movements. According to some study feet and legs often reveal true feelings, lairs have learn to control facial expression.
4) Adopter:
Way of adjusting to communication situation, for example twist hair, tap pen people of higher status take a more relax body posture.
5) Gestures:
Deliberate movement and signals are an important way to communicate meaning without words, common gestures include waving, pointing, and using fingers to indicate numeric amounts .
Paralinguistic:
Paralinguistic refers to vocal communication that is separate from actual language, This includes factors such as tone of voice ,loudness ,and pitch. There may be some sentences when said in a strong tone of voice listener might interpret approval and enthusiasm. The same words said in a hesitant tone of voice might convey disapproval and a lack of interest.
Proxemics:
People often refer to their need for personal space which is also an important type of nonverbal communication. The amount of distance we need and the amount of space we perceive as belonging to us is influence by a number of factor including cultural expectations, personality characteristics and level of familiarity.
Eye gaze:
The eyes play an important role in nonverbal communication and such things as looking. Staring and blinking are important of nonverbal behavior .When people encounter people or things that they like the rate of blinking increases. Looking at another person can indicate a range of emotions including hostility, interest and attraction.
Appearance:
Our choice of color, clothing, hair styles and other factors affecting appearance are also considered a means of on verbal communication .Research on color psychology has demonstrated that diff color can evoke different moods.
Artifacts:
Objects and images are also tools that can be used to communicate non verbally. People often spend a great deal of time developing a particular image and surrounding themselves with objects design to convey information about the things that are important to them.
