Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryFlywheel is an instrument with the ability to store energy in the form of kinetic energy due to its rotation in a frictionless magnetic levitation on the base bearing. In this project AC motor runs with the help of AC supply from the UPS. Then this motor rotates the flywheel which stores kinetic energy. Due to this energy the generator coupled with flywheel, rotates and produces power. After some time, the initial AC input supply is replaced by supply from AC generator as a power feedback. The remaining generated output power is supplied to any external load. In a nutshell the result of such system proves that the input power is always less than the output power due to the energy storing ability of the flywheel. This system can be used in various applications like rural areas where electricity is scarce due to lack of transmission and distribution lines, household appliances, industries and can also be used in correlation with traditional electricity generation methods to increase their efficiency.
Project Objectives- To review the main problems related to electricity generation.
- To produce 3KW free energy generation using flywheel.
- To connect different loads with generator.
- To design panel for measuremernt of different electrical quantities at input and output side.
- To display and monitor different electrical quantities from designed Panel.
This project will be implemented in any area to produce low cost energy particulaly where electricity crises and load shedding exisit. It will be supplied with AC input if available or DC input from it's battery. After a certain amount of time the project will generate enough electricity to resupply the input as well as any external loads which can be fans, lights, small appliances etc.

The final deliverables in the hardware are:
- 1HP single phase induction motor (240v, 50hz, 1450rpm)
- 30 kg, 0.75m diameter flywheel
- 5kw permanent magnet alternator (240v, 50hz, 400rpm)
- UPS with battery
- pulleys (ranging from 4 inch to 12 inch in size)
- belt drive
- measurement panel including:
- voltmeter
- ammeter
- wattmeter
- power factor meter
- frequency meter
- tachometer
- protection system including
- miniature circuit breakers
- change over switch
- indicating LEDs
