Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryThe project “ 200 Watt Electricity generation through road ramps by using flywheel” looks similar to the normal roads but have ramps in it through which electricity is generated. When a car pass over the ramp the electricity is generated by the module built under the ramp. It will utilize the motion and pressure of vehicle on the roads through the phenomena of converting the kinetic energy into electrical energy. It is a system designed to capture kinetic energy from all vehicles. This device converts the kinetic energy of the vehicles into electric energy. In areas with highly populated traffic such as highways or main roads this device can generate electricity in kilo watts per day.
Project Objectives- To built and efficient two way mechanical Structure of Road Ramp.
- To made a Dynamo which will run on 150 to 200 rpm.
- To Run a Dynamo on required rpm with the help of bevel gears so electricity can be generated.
- To maintain the speed of Dynamo with the help of flywheel
- To store the generated Electricity in a battery
- To implement it on normal roads to reduce the electricity crises
We will develop a system which will harness the Kinetic Energy of vehicles. In our University, we will install it on the main gate to demonstrate the average power produced per vehicle.
Benefits of the ProjectOur Country is facing severe energy crisis and our centralized electricity system is only based on ancient ways of generating. The system cannot fulfill the demand of customers as the number of electricity users are increasing exponentially. Our most rural areas are currently without electricity and the Grid Lines also can’t reach them . So this project will be helpful in a way that it will generate the electricity by the waste Kinetic energy of vehicles and convert it in electrical energy and can produce 400 to 450 watts per hour and it will generate kilo watts energy per day. Our goal is to provide low cost electricity to the far rural areas of our country where the lives of country peoples are badly affected due to energy crisis, although the energy resources are explicitly available. It is beneficial in a way that :
- It will generate low cost electricity.
- It will reduce the consumption of electricity which is consumed by streetlights by working for streetlight as a source.
- It is a new method of generating electricity.
- No labor Needed.
- Only one time investment and very easy maintenance.
- Efficient way of generating electricity without using any fossil fuels or coals.
- The units of this project have minimum visual impact on their surrounding environment.
- This project emits no noise.
- No obstruction to traffic.
Suitable at parking of multiplexes, toll booths, signals or highways.
Technical Details of Final Deliverable- A prototype consisting of a Ramp, bevel gears and a flywheel system which captures wasted kinetic energy from the vehicles.
- Integration of the prototype with a Dynamo.
- Charging system which consist of buck boost circuit, arduino and LCD for the sufficient charging and live monitoring of output power and battery status.
