Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject Summary BACKGROUND EXPLANATION :The days of pandemic were quite merciless for every person, as it was a worldwide disease and every other human being was being held captive for one or another reason. COVID took over the world and it happened to be quite a pause for every sector of human life.
Being the people effected with this situation our motivation was clear and vision full and after our research and working we got to study about Amazon’s one of the best project of its Automated Shopping Cart. The idea clicked in our mind as it isn’t implemented in our nation. The waiting queues in our shopping marts are sometimes unbearable and too much time consuming. With the help of our idea, we wanted to make something feasible for every customer that world be handy, user-friendly and quick. A cashier-less idea that could change the game of shopping industries!
Tired of long due queues in every shopping mart? Yes, we have an all-time solution for this struggle. Our “YouPick” project is all about your precious time because well Time definitely doesn’t wait for anyone. A queue-less idea that is innovative in every form.
The combat to pay your grocery and other shopped products is a real deal. Everyone has to wait for their time and the manual system of scanning the products makes it even worse especially at the time of pandemic when only few people were allowed to buy due to the immense human interaction.
This idea of time wasting and human interaction is quite perfectly solved by our project.
Features :
Since this project idea has not been implemented in Pakistan yet therefore it will be a completely new idea to implement that is innovative plus advance. The features of this project will be as follows:
• Product detection: For the product detection by users, we will use the Computer Vision to detect the products or the barcode scanner when the customer will put any product in the cart
• Easy billing: The billing of the customers would be timeless, reliable, quick and easy.
• Less Human Interaction: This device is helpful for serving the customers in the pandemic situation to get less human interaction in order to follow the S.O.P.’s.
• Frictionless shopping: Frictionless shopping helps customers save time while allowing the manager/admin to gather detailed customer data and boost revenue.
• Manages with Desktop App: This device is only authenticated with the server of the admin through which all the inventory of the items will be managed there.
• Customer return policy through QR code/Invoice Number: The QR code or the invoice number would help the customers in returning or exchanging any product.
We chose this project to solve the problem of the time spent in long queues and to achieve less interaction in the situation of pandemic and in daily life aswell. In this project the cart has the tablet attached which has the option to register/login or use as a guest. The customer would buy a product and the cart would scan the product and show each detail on the screen attached. Using computer vision or barcode scanner. After completing the shopping, the customer will checkout and the invoice number and the QR code would be generated and displayed on the screen for the payment. This is the customer side interaction with the device as described, its our hybrid application.
Furthermore we have a managing side vendor as well. The person handling the vendor would have the option of every cart in its inventory. When the customer will come to pay, the cashier will open the option of the cart by seeing the cart number, all the details of the items bought by the customer would be shown there with the total amount. The customer will just and to pay and leave.
Incase the customer wants to change or return some item next time, the QR or the invoice number generated will be scanned by the cashier and all the details of that shopping bill would be open and the customer can easily return or exchange the items.

Technical Details
In this project there is a hybrid application and a desktop application that is accessible by the user and the admin both. By using the hybrid application, the user can be registered or login; if already registered on the android device attached to the cart, which then activates the cart to function. As the customer put its products in the cart, the product details would be shown on the application with all the details and authenticates on the screen. Then there is the desktop application which is used on the managing side and the authorized personnel can be able to access using the authentication/credentials. If the customer has to incase remove any item, the personnel would have the authority to do so. The sole purpose of this project is to interact with the technology to get a customer-friendly environment that to be done easily without creating the hassle. And to overcome the problems faced in the pandemic situation and to manage the store easily as until now this thing has not been implemented in our country and this is one of the needs in the Covid-19 situation to make sure the less user interaction with evolvement of new technology.
It is going to be both software and hardware-based project. Where the cart is designed in a smart way with attached hardware. The screen on the cart will have a software installed for the customers. The product detection will be done on it with all the details listed on our application. The checkout phase would be done after the shopping which would generate a QR code or an invoice number that can be used in future if the customer has to exchange or return any product. Whereas, on the admin side, we will use the Desktop application made by React. The detection and payment of the products will be done using the computer vision and python libraries or by the barcode scanner. Mango DB which is classified as NoSQL database program will be implemented on admin side which is the server side and will be hosted through one of the cloud hosting services.?
