Health monitoring of patients is a big issue now a days when patients are in the hospital, lot of staff is required for monitoring the parameters of patient's health. Basic body parameters are very important for the diagnosis and treatment of a patient. In case of any critical conditions of the patient, first the doctor have to measure the basic body parameters which results in wastage of time. For this purpose wireless health monitoring system is developed. Basic body parameters are temperature, ECG, heart beat and spo2 (amount of oxygen present in capillaries). For measuring these parameters there should be small sensors so that system should be portable and sensors do not cause any discomfort to patients. AD8232 is a sensor used for checking activity of heart (for measuring ECG). Thus Max3001 is used for measuring heart beat and spo2(amount of oxygen present in capillaries), LM35 is used for temperature measurement. All body parameters of the patients are visible to the doctor on LCD in his office so that time can be saved and utilized in treatment instead of measuring the parameters first. If any patient’s parameters become abnormal, an alarm for medical staff is turned on. Most critical body parameters are ECG and heart beat when these two body parameters become abnormal then an alarm goes on.
The objective of this project are:
1. To design such a system which is time saving, portable, automatic and continuously send parameters to doctor.
2. In a case of any abnormal conditions, system will inform to doctor and patient can be treated timely.
3. Small and precise senesors are to be used which does not cause any difficulty for patient during measurement of parameters.
After detailed study and literature review, the sensors to measure ECG, SPO2 and temperature are chosen by keeping in mind the constraints of patient i.e comfortability and easiness in use. AD8232 is used to measure the ECG, Max30100 sensor is used (for SPO2 and heart rate) and LM35 for temperature measurement. The sensors are interfaced with the Arduino. All the data from the sensors is stored in the Arduino. One data set is taken from the normal/healthy person and stored in the Arduino. After that the data from the sensors from a patient is taken and compared with the normal person data. An alarm goes on if any difference in any parameter is detected by the Arduino. Two HC11 (wireless modules) are used for the transmitting and receiving of the data from the sensors to the Doctor office. The data containing the patient’s parameters is displayed on LCD screen by using LabVIEW software.
Benefits of projects are:
1. Automatic and continuously monitoring of patient's health parameters .
2. In a case of any abnormal conditions system will inform to doctor and patient can be treated timely.
3. This is less power consuming device.
4. Portable system
