Water Pipeline leakage detection system
As water is a scarce resource. We need to make efficient use of water and save this resource. Most of the loss in water is because of leaks in pipeline. An efficient approach to solve this problem is needed which is less expensive and effective. This project uses advance technology i.e remote sensing and gis to detect leaks in water pipeline. The project takes satellite image of suspected area of leakage. One before the incidence and one after. It calculates soil moisture or ndvi which are image processing techniques to detect whether there is a leak in water
The project aims to save the scarce resource. It uses advanxe technology to detect leaks in water. This approach is less expensive and requires less human resource as compared to conventional methods.
The project is based on remote sensing and GIS. It takes two satellite images of the suspected area. One before the incidence and one after the incidence. It further extracts region of interest from the satellite images. After that atmospheric correction is performed as the satellite images contains noise which needs to be removed. Then the user either calculates ndvi or soil moisture and the values are compared. If there is a difference between the values of two images then the leakage is detected. Otherwise there is no leakage in pipeline
The project uses advance technology and it is a simple yet effective project. It detects leaks in less time using less human resources as compared to the traditional approach. The project is less expensive. It is one of the best project to save the scarce resource
It is a web based application . The project will be provided with Software requirement specification and thesis.
