Studies indicate that Virtual Reality is a promising Ed-Tech innovation as it is 400% more efficient than any method of learning. Our project evaluates aeronautical engineers' skills through VR exploration, which may influence future learning strategies. VR development in AE will help bridge the gap between technology, training, and education.
Our idea aims to be an enjoyable and engaging way to learn to fly an aircraft without compromising the resources provided by commercial pilot training. It also assures a safer environment for the pilot to enjoy VR flight training than traditional flight training. The major objective of VR-AE is to assess and evaluate a person’s capability to become a pilot.
Unity 3D: In the first phase of the development, we will be designing the game in Unity 3D environment with the help of other designing tools. In need of creating a customized 3D object throughout the design process, we will do so with the help of Blender and Auto CAD 3DS Max.
The designing phase followed by the development phase will start where we will add interactive features and functionalities to the project with the help of scripting. Creating customized scripts for different game objects, resulting in a life-like environment.
Oculus Quest 2: The Oculus Quest 2 can function as a standalone headset with an internal, Android-based operating system, as well as with Oculus-compatible VR software running on a desktop computer when connected by USB or Wi-Fi.
Blender and Auto CAD 3DS Max: These are content creation tools that will be used for object and terrain design purposes adding motion graphics and interactive 3D models with visual effects.
Unity: C# is the programming language used for the scripting purposes. UnityVS is a third-party Visual Studio plug-in that we will utilize along with some external libraries.
In order for the player to assess himself, a set of unique objectives will be provided to the player. On accomplishing the said objectives, the player will be assessed on the order as well as the time is taken to complete the objectives. This type of progress tracker of assessment will be developed using C# scripts in Unity.
Immersive and innovative digital tools such as 3D learning environments, and virtual reality facilitate experiential learning that allows students to grasp theoretical concepts faster and in greater depth. Immersive learning enhances the learning process by adding content that is interactive and engaging, allowing for experimentation, practice, and learning by doing.
There are several advantages of using VR for pilot training. Currently, the cockpits utilized (both fixed-wing and rotary) are exact duplicates of the real cockpits, to the point that the simulator hardware cost may easily exceed the cost of the actual aircraft, particularly in the case of commercial aircraft. This is where the virtual environment comes in, saving money and reducing setup time.
With two-thirds of plane crashes occurring during primary flight training, VR-AE ensures the safety of the user and the aircraft by creating a virtual life-like environment for the player.

We will develop an android application that will act as a virtual aircraft simulator in a virtual environment . Our application will be running on a device called Oculus Quest 2.
The simulator will run on Oculus Quest 2 after the development on Unity is completed. Once the concept on Unity is finished, we will generate an APK file of the simulator and run it.
