Standing wheelchair is designed to enhance the life of disabled people by giving them a mean to stand and move anywhere. The wheelchair reclines to transform into the stretcher for the CP stand patients.It is integrated into multiple sensors. assistive technology that help the user with a disability and the required mobility to move freely and safely. This particular wheelchair has an adjustable mechanism which allows patients to stand up to better help themselves as well as performing physical therapy.

Project Objectives

Voice and Gesture Controlled Standing Wheelchair provides assistance to physically challenged people to stand like a normal human being and get access to different things to make them independent. The reclining feature will help the user to recline its back to counter the lower limbs problem and shifting from chair to bed.

Further, 

The user  can Control the Wheelchair with Voice commands and by giving different gestures to the wheelchair. This would make the Standing Wheelchair user friendly and easy to user. 

It will help the disabled people to experience a normal life. It will help to boast the confidence of the people facing the challenges of life. This wheelchair will provide mobility to the handicapped and physically challenged people to stand up in a normal manner.

Project Implementation Method

The dimensions are analyzed in SOLIDWORKS according to an average weight of a common man. These dimensions are then designed in MAXWELL software to check and verify the authenticity of the proposed dimensions. A proper 3D model assembling the hardware parts of the prototype is designed in the same workbench. This 3D model is then implemented into a real time model and is transformed into a proper prototype.

Different sensors are implemented according to their compilation codes in three microcontrollers. Linear actuators will help in moving the wheelchair in standing, reclining position and elevating the footrest with the help of toggle switches that will drive the motors according to command.Voice recognition app will detect the voice commands and convert it to text. This text will be transmitted to Arduino microcontroller through bluetooth module. The voice commands are installed in both the languages i.e, English and Urdu. footrest with the help of toggle switches that will drive the motors according to command. With gesture control, handicapped person will be able to control the wheel chair by merely sending commands with their finger, arm or hand movement. GPS will be used to track the location of the disabled people and will send the location information of the user which is tracked by the GPS module to the firebase.Battery alarm system will automatically alert the user when the battery will be running low.

The results will be voluntarily tested on a normal person.

The wheel chair will be able to make the disbaled person elevate from the sitting posture.

The reclining posture will comfort the patient by avoiding the back problems

It will be able to stop the wheelchair if any obstacle come in its way and make sure a safe path.

Disabled person will be able to control it with his voice and hand gestures.

GPS module will be able to track the location of the person.

Battery alarm system will automatically alert when the system battery will be running low so that the user can charge it as soon as possible.
