Project Title

Vital Signs Prediction from smart wearable devices

Project Area of Specialization Computer ScienceProject Summary

In this project, we are going to design a system in which the person's vital signs like heart rate and blood pressure will be monitored continuously using the smart wearable device like smartwatch connected with the mobile application. Based on vital signs data, our system will predict the future behavior of vital signs of the person and his condition in the upcoming minutes.
First of all, the user’s data will be continuously recorded through the smartwatch. These vital signs and daily activity data consisting of Blood Pressure, heart rate, sleeping time, step count, stress and calories. This data will be sent to the android mobile application. Now, the mobile app will forward this recorded user’s data to the server on which this data will be the input to the machine learning prediction model which will predict that whether this user will remain in normal condition in upcoming minutes. Now, if the prediction says that it’s going to be a critical situation for the person or not, it’ll send the information/prediction back to the mobile app, where the alert will be generated based on the prediction of the model and will also be sent to the guardian/ care-taker of the person. Also, the person's medical history and clinical events will be stored on the database so that the problem of interoperablity i.e. the person's medical history is not present in the digital form so that it can be viewed by any doctor from any place in the world. So, by storing the medical history of the person in the database,  any doctor from anywhere can view and analyze the medical history of the patient and prescribe him the best medication.

Project Objectives

Project objectives include :

1) development of an application and using smartwatch sensor data that will detect the condition like increased heart rate which can lead to problems like blood clotting & heart attack etc.

2) Another objectivel is to monitor the heart rate 24/7 and send alerts if something is wrong.

3) Another objective of the project is that doctors can track the health records of patients through the another mobile app where the user’s medical record history, location, emergency-triggered incidents will be shown and stored on the database after certain interval of time.

4) Availability of Medical history of a patient at any hospital by using the database that will solve the problem of interoperability.

Project Implementation Method

First of all, Sensor data (vital signs i.e. heart rate and blood pressure) collected from the smartwatch will be sent to the android application through the API.

Then, the Android application will validate the data that is being sent by the smartwatch and will send it on the server where the machine learning prediction algorithm (which we'll train) will predict that whether the patient's condition is going to be critical or not in the upcoming minutes.

Also, the person's medical history and clinical events will be stored on the database so that the problem of interoperablity i.e. the person's medical history is not present in the digital form so that it can be viewed by any doctor from any place in the world will be solved. So, by storing the medical history of the person in the database,  any doctor from anywhere can view and analyze the medical history of the patient and prescribe him the best medication.

If the patient's health is going to be in a critical situation then the server will send an alert signal to the application

Benefits of the Project

The main goal of the project is to help the society by developing an application and using smartwatch sensor data that will detect the condition like increased heart rate which can lead to problems like blood clotting & heart attack etc.
Another goal is to monitor the heart rate 24/7 and notifies the person timely if something is wrong.
Another objective of the project is that doctors can track the health records of patients through the another mobile app where the user’s medical record history, location, emergency-triggered incidents will be shown and stored on the database after a certain interval of time.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The final deliverable will include
1) Android mobile application for the user that can be connected to a smart wearable device like a smartwatch and collect data through API and then it will start monitoring the vital signs of the person like heart rate and blood pressure.
2) Machine Learning model trained on vital signs dataset that will predict the person's condition on the basis of data collected.
3) Realtime Database will be storing the medical history of the patients.
4) Mobile Application for the doctor that will show the medical history and clinical events of the patient to the doctor who has been given access by the patient.
