Project Area of Specialization Computer ScienceProject SummaryThe project will include a well designed site interface with sitewide navigation
and a backend database.Users will be able to register, login and change their account settings.
Lecturers will have ability to create topics and subtopics, will also be able to navigate through them using a designated panel. The main tool that will allow lecturers to create topics and their content will be the Art/Drawing toolbox.
This tool will be created with the help of the Konva library. The website will also allow users to playback their lectures and generate a pdf version of it if they need to.
Selected chapters of a programming book would also be converted to this program as a demonstration.
Project ObjectivesTo provide for a medium of teaching programming concepts better than powerpoint slides we are used to seeing.
To allow teachers to seamlessly create their lectures which consist of code and relevant flowcharts/pseudocode.
Allow students to gain better grasps of programming concepts through visual stimuli.
The project will utilize the following technologies in its implementation
NodeJS
Konva
Bootstrap
JQuery
HTML/CSS
This project will provide an easier way for students to understand programming concepts. It'll allow them to learn much faster hence allowing more time for advance concepts which at times can be left out as classroom time is very limited.
Students will also be learning through the use of flowcharts i.e visual stimuli, which has proven to allow for better retention of information and faster understanding of information presented.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe final deliverable will be a software website which will have the following features implemented:
-An Art/Drawing toolbox to aid in creation of flowcharts
-Playback features which will allow teachers to go through
code step by step.
-A book will also be ported over to this website as a demonstration
-Teachers will be able to create Topics/Subtopics and store flowcharts/code/pseudocodes within them.
-A PDF version of the topic/subtopic will also be generateable.
-Pseudocode and code steps will be associated with portions of the flowchart i.e a step in code and pseudocode will be associated with parts of flowchart.
