Virtual Teacher Assistant
This project aims to automatically assist teachers managing the results of semester based systems performing most of the activities such as attendance, quizzes, and assignments automatically. This will especially assist the teachers working in public and private sector organisations, who has no CMS support. They, therefore, feel it a burden to calculate and produce the results in time, thus delaying the overall results, when the teachers are not imposed strict deadlines. This project aims to develop a mobile application to implement the idea over the cloud infrastructure for managing data needed for implementing solution for the problem. It aims to use innovative and secure methods available today in marking attendance of the student, thus reducing the overhead of the teacher. It will store a large set of MCQs and short questions, which would be displayed time bound one by one to the students in random fashion thus avoiding the chances of cheating. It will incorporate the existing techniques to marking assignments, or long questions and thus incorporate the marks towards total marks calculations. Initially, it aims targeting the attendance and quizzes kind of activities, which could be easily handled. This will also include an interactive marking system for presentations during the classes. Later on, advance techniques could be added for managing the mid and final term examination. The students might be able to see their progress.

This project will be developed using Android Software Development kit (SDK) to develop a mobile App. This will follow a detailed Literature survey of the play store. The team will develop an analysis model based on requirements, converted then into a design, which will be implemented in latest version of the SDK available for implementation purposes. The project will be offered to the teachers through Google App Store.

This App would be running on any smart handheld device running android operating system, as it covers the majority of the market in developing countries. This might use smart devices to find out locations of the students within the premises of the class to facilitate marking attendance. Alternatively, it might use simple communication methods such as Bluetooth to mark the attendance. A strong database will support to keep the data needed to developing quizzes and assignments a well as their results after marking them. Though, it would be a personal assistance of a teacher, but its results could be exported directly to other devices or servers. Similarly, it would be capable of importing various data such as list of students etc. to reduce burden on teachers. The project might also facilitate presentations which gonna be displayed over a smart TV to the audience, who gonna rate them presentation.
