Brief Description:

Virtec Online Education System based on three modules Student verification against the logged in Id via Voice Recognition and Student Attention Module checks the attention and a virtual teacher assistant takes students’ vivas and evaluate them.

Executive Summary: 

During viva evaluation, the problems students generally face that they are unable to open their cameras due to different reasons so the teacher cannot verify the student against the logged in Id. Virtec Online Education System solves this problem by verifying the students’ id using pre-recorded samples of their voices. This module will be implemented by using the concepts of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The end product is a program that applies certain algorithms to some application and also a software package that is useful in certain applications. During online video conferences/lectures, teacher cannot check whether the students are paying attention to the teacher or not. Attention Check Module will check the attention of the students by popping up topic specific questions and students must respond in given time. Virtual Teacher Assistant module will take students’ vivas, converts them in textual form using speech recognition and evaluate them by implementing the complex algorithms and achieving the end goal.

Project Objectives

Industry Objectives: The project can be used by different Academic institutions i.e., College, Universities to pursue their online classes. 

Research Objectives: The main users of this project are to get know how of AI human voice recognition analyzing different voice samples and AI Speech recognition concept.

Academic Objectives: The project will tell about the presence of the same student against the logged in ID during different viva evaluations. Also it will assist in checking attentiveness during whole class session. Further assisting in taking Online Vivas in place of teachers.

Project Implementation Method

Development Methodology:

The ”Virtec Online Education System* comparises of General Video conferencing features with added functionalities. The Development phase begins with general video calling apps or video group conferencing apps features readily available in markets used for Online education like MS Teams, Zoom, etc. Further, three new modules will be added. Firstly, Voice Recognition Data samples will be collected against various IDs. Subject has to pre-record his voice to get sign up of ID. The voice will be checked everytime from database by teacher during vivas,etc. Secondly, Attention check module is implemented by storing pre stored questions to be asked at random times during the lectures to check whether the student is mentally present or not. The attendance can be marked on the response of those questions. Third, a virtual teacher assistant module will be developed which will help teacher taking vivas without being present. Machine will be trained to ask questions from students and students will reply from multiple choices provided by the system.

Benefits of the Project

Direct Customers/Beneficiaries of the Project: 

We can introduce this system in market to determine attentiveness of an individual students in Universities Online Education can use it to determine the attentiveness of an individual furthermore, it also removes the uncertainty of whether the original student is in place during the lecture or not by using that verification module by checking and comparing the pre-recorded voice samples to the current on-going voice. A Virtual Teacher Assistant that will help, take and evaluate the vivas and quizzes of students. In the recent pandemic situation, it can be really helpful to keep track of all students in an online teaching scenario.

Outputs Expected from the Project: 

Some of the expected outcomes are:

• A voice recognition module will modify the students against the logged in students.

• An Attentiveness check module will pop up questions on the screen to check the mental presence of students during the lecture.

• A Virtual Teacher Assistant will be trained according to the provided data set of the subject.

• Implementation of Voice Recognition Module.

• Implementation of Questions Dataset.

• Code Optimization for Real time processing.

• These parameters will be all implemented and optimized for real time processing
