As the banana plant is live for five to six years & live enough to give fruited once after that the plant become die and their stem is move to waste. Their waste is burnt or dumped in waste. If not properly managed can caused problem to the environment, because if they are dumped in wet condition or burned can produce greenhouse gas which can cause a problem to the environment.
As the banana plant stem is many made of banana fibers which is cellulase based and its use for different textile useful products because of biodegradability and its better properties. The banana plants is produce on 34800 farming lands with annual production of 154800 tons. Now this huge production if not utilize it become hazardous for environment. The banana fiber has degradable which should utilize and now the world move toward it & it can be replace many synthetic products with eco-friendly products made by banana fibers. It’s worth is more than cotton in rupees. The banana fibers are use in many products due to its high absorbency, high durability, and high strength Such as Napkins, sensatory pads or baby diapers, natural paper, leather, packing materials, (non-woven), natural fiber composites which is used for fir boards and luxuries car floor panels, use in medical textiles like gauzes, masks, sutures, and can be used for apparel purposes.
my concern is to utilize the banana fibers into many useful products especially gauzes which has better result in medical textiles. the banana fibers have cellulose based & it contain photogenic proteins which is good in medical textiles. as the fibers degum & than convert it into gauzes on woven or non-woven process.
Project ObjectivesThe objectives are:
1. To make the gauzes from banana fibers.
2. Degumming: as the fibers degummed by the process of Caustic soda NaOH.
3. Converting it into gauzes by the process of woven & non-woven.
but especially we are using non-woven process.
4. Testing: as the samples test to ensure the result is according to desired
absorbency test, weight loss test, whitening test, anti-microbial test.
Project Implementation MethodLiterature review: As literature review first to know about which area should require to develop and how much work done on it.
Implementation: now to select the idea that what work should require to do and implement it.
Degumming: to remove the impurities from the fiber of banana through NaOH at specific temperature and time.
Making products: to make gauze from that fiber the process is used non-woven to suppress the fiber layers on each other and make patches
Testing: To ensure the product is according to our desjer do to check it or test it through different testing procedures. just like absorbency test, whiteness test, weight loss test, anti-microbial test.
Thesis/ paper publishing:to convert all the practicle to documentations.
Benefits of the ProjectThe gauzes made of Banana fibers have fore most advantages:
1. Its more hygiene so it will better work in medical field.
2. we can produce alternate of synthetic material which is bio-degradable and having better quality than synthetic gauzes.
3. The waste of banana fibers stem become utilize.
4. The cheap price can be achieved with better quality due to high rate of production of banana fibers.
5. Anti-microbial gauzes can be created by it.
6. Due to high absorbency it will healing the wound quickly.
7. We can implement it on bulk.
Technical Details of Final Deliverable1. With the help of hot plats the fibers become degummed & create whiteness, softness, flexibility & remove the impurities.
2. After the degumming using hot pressers’ plates which convert it into Patches & and make or give the shape of primary gauzes.
3. the main purpose is to check its whiteness, softness & remove the impurities. due to remove its impurities make it soft, white, flexible, anti-microbial.
