Project Summary

According to World Health Organization (WHO) publication over 3,700 people die due to roads accidents every day worldwide and tens of millions of people are injured or disabled every year. The National Highway & Motorway Police officials have lamented that on average 15000-16000 people die in Pakistan annually due to traffic accidents. Traffic Authority in Pakistan is very weak due to which aesthetic sense of drivers is not measured which contributes in the reason of accidents. However, traffic rules are also very important and majority of drivers  do not have knowledge regarding traffic signs and rules. Multiple interactive based applications have been developed to educate people regarding the traffic rules however, these applications pose a few shortcomings. Few of the exisiting applications are not user friendly whereas, few of them are questionare based and offer a non-interactive 2D environment. Viewing the current situation we proposed a Virttual Reality based game on Traffic Rules (Car Racing Game) with an interactive 3D Environment. This game will serve as an educational platform to learn traffic rules and regulations in an interactive way along with an engaging platform for gaming enthusiasts.  

Project Objectives

Our project objectives are listed as below, 

  1. Development of a mobile based platform to promote abidance of traffic rules and developing driving sense. 
  2. Developing driving aesthetics and road sense among people 
  3. Facilitating the authorities in form of providing services for driving test platform – a step towards E-governance. 
  4. Reducing death toll over road accidents. 
  5. Maintain efficient transportation system.  

Project Implementation Method

Our project implementation consist of two phases that are given below:

  1. Environment designing and logic building.
  2. Integration of designed logic and environment in VR.

 In first phase we build 3D assets and environment that are used in our project . We also design logic of our project in first phase.

In second phase we integrate our assets,environment and logics in VR.

Benefits of the Project

  1. Our game provides an interactive way to remember Traffic Rules and Signs to the People. People don’t have to search rules one by one. Our game will consist of all the traffic rules which increased sense of rules in people and these mentioned rules are given by Traffic Police which is 100% accurate.
  2. Facilitating the authorities in form of driving test platform – a step towards E-governance. 
  3. This game provide an interactive way to the people who have no time to learn traffic rules and asthetics. It also train the user with no knowledge of rules and regulations. Due to knowledge of Traffic Rules accidents rate will get low. First this game will teach and then test the user. This  game is free of cost’ people don’t have to spend money for Traffic Rules Courses.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Our final deliverable will be a VR-based interactive platform that will serve as a learning and testing based service to educate people regarding traffic rules and road sense.
