UPS Power Source
UPS is a device used for back-up power for critical and essential loads. The design of the UPS from discrete components based on the principle that any system that can generate pulsating alternating waveform of any regular shape (sawtooth, ramp, square, sinusoidal) with appropriate mark to space ratio from a d.c source, can be used to generate pure or almost clean a.c. signals. We are designing the ups for the tank. In normal condition, the tank power supply system can provide stable DC power for the fire control computer, gunner's sight, commander's panoramic, and thermal imager, and charge the UPS battery. When the power system of the tank is not working UPS battery, power by the fire control computer, gunner's sight, and thermal imager through the UPS power source in stable DC voltage for a time not less than 6 min. The project involves the design and simulation of UPS power source for the tank.
The aim of this project work, which was to design and construct a reliable UPS system for the tank.
The objective of this project is to design an uninterpretable power supply for tanks. A power outage is an unavoidable
phenomenon and the need for a reliable backup or emergency power supply system cannot be overemphasized,
To provide stable supply DC for a long time which is required for efficient working of the tank.
Step 1: Research and literature review on ups system (keeping in note the performance efficiency).
Step 2: We arranged a meeting with our HIT Contact person to start the work on the project according to HIT requirements.
Step 3: Simulation of UPS
Step 4: Working on Hardware Design
Step 5: Observing the performance and adding some specifications to meet the requirement.
Step 7: Prototype of project.
Step 6: A complete Project report will be written. We will try to publish a final report on the performance & cost efficiency.

Every electrical and electronic equipment needs to be energized by means of a power supply.
As we are designing the ups for tank power supply system which can provide stable DC power for the fire control computer, gunner's sight, commander's panoramic, and thermal imager, and charge the UPS battery. When the power system of the tank is not working UPS battery, power by the fire control computer, gunner's sight,
The most typical application is to keep the supply to the computer constant in case of the main power failure due to some of the other reasons so that the recent data on the computer is not lost. The other important applications include:
1.digital recording equipment
2.communication systems such as central telephone and intercoms
3.security and building access systems
4.data network hubs and routers
5.data network file servers.
A sudden loss of power will disrupt most operations. Many electrical loads, for example, computer systems, are equally susceptible to power sags, power spikes and surges, noise and radio frequency interference, and supply frequency changes. Such loads are often referred to as „critical loads?, partly because their continuous operation is fundamental to the functioning of the system, and also because they require a more stable and reliable power source than that generally offered by the utility mains supply in order to guarantee their correct function.
As our project is about, the tank power supply system will be able to provide stable DC power for the fire control computer, gunner's sight, commander's panoramic, and thermal imager, and charge the UPS battery.
Therefore our final goal is, When the power system of the tank is not working, our system will provide power by the fire control computer, gunner's sight, and thermal imager through the UPS power source in stable DC voltage for a time not less than 6 min. Our project involves both hardware design and simulation of UPS power source.
