Project Area of Specialization Information & Communication TechnologyProject SummaryIn this project, a hardware/software model for under-water communication will be developed. The developed system will be able to transmit as well receive data in an under-water environment. Considering the requirement of placing the transmitter and/or receiver in water, and water as the medium/channel of transmission, the hardware/software will be designed accordingly. In order to transmit and receive real-time data signal underwater, modulation techniques will be used that can ensure enough signal to noise ratio (SNR) and improved quality of the signal. These parameters are important since, in an under-water scenario, there are different factors that affect and distort the signal. For simplicity, on-off keying – a variation of amplitude shift keying will be used for modulation.
Project Objectives- To design a system that allows signal communication underwater with enough SNR.
- To send a real-time data signal underwater with lesser distortion.
- Software model to be developed on OptiSystem.
- Hardware model, with development of transmitter (designed with LEDs) and receiver (designed with PDs).

- The developed prototype can be used, with relevant modifications, for situations wherever communication is required to be made under-water.
- Hardware/ software integrated communication system that can transmit/receive real-time data underwater using Arduino and LED PD controllers photodiodes.
- Software simulations for this communication system on two software Opti-system and Matlab with Arduino and LED interfacing that can transmit/receive real-time data underwater.
