Project Summary

  • The purpose of our project is to construct and demonstrate a mechanical process, which transfers carts loaded with bricks through the kiln.
  • Using a pneumatic system that can push carts one by one through the kiln.

Project Objectives

  • The aim is to design an automated channel for multiple carts, that can carry a maximum number of bricks into the kiln.
  • Making the cost-effective design of carts with appropriate dimensions to withstand high temperatures.
  • Using Automated Pneumatic System to push the carts into the kiln. Discarding labour.

Project Implementation Method

We are using an Ultrasonic sensor to detect the presence of the cart in front of the pneumatic actuator/cylinder, upon detecting it gives the signal to the Solenoid valve, where an AC supply is also given, Solenoid Valve can control the pneumatic actuator manually and with a microcontroller as well. The Solenoid valve will take compressed air from the compressor and will actuate the cylinder where the piston/shaft will come out of it to push the cart inside the kiln to bake the bricks. When the bricks are baked for a set time the same cycle will repeat pushing the new cart loaded with bricks inside the kiln and the one inside with baked bricks out of the kiln.

  • Reduce Air Pollution whereas in the basic brick kiln a lot of fuel is burnt which produces toxic gases.

  • Design on Solidworks.
  • Micro-Controller(Aurdino Uno).
  • Solenoid Valve.
  • Pneumatic Acutator.
  • Ultrasonic sensors.
  • Carts are made of lightweight iron with paralyite coating to resist 1k degrees celsius of temperature.
