The Distribution Transformers are important links in the chain of power distribution systems. The power, which is transmitted at high voltage, stepped down from 1100V to 415V and Phase to Neutral 415/?3 with these distribution transformers. The transformer KVA rating is 5KVA. These are manufactured in a variety of capacities and voltage ranges. Their reliable operation on the network is very critical because it directly impacts that of the entire electrical network connected to it. Dry type distribution transformers differ from oil immersed transformers mainly in cooling conditions.

"Dry type"simply means it is cooled by normal air ventilation. The dry type transformer does not require a liquid such as oil or silicone or any other liquid to cool the electrical core and coils.  The transformer case is ventilated to allow air to flow and cool the coil (coils).so it can be more economical then the oil immersed transformers

  2. Learn the skills required for devlopment of Dry type transformer
  3. Build a protoype implmentation fot  Dry type transformer.

Benefits of the Project

Dry type transformer are more economical then the oil immersed transformers. These type of distribution transformers are manufactured in north America, Australia, India and many others northern areas of the world, but not in Pakistan. Even the Pakistan most popular companies PEL and SIEMENS are not producing these type of transformers. The benefit of the project is to demonstrate the local capability of developing such transformer indigenously in Pakistan. 

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

At the start of this project we have done the first 25% of the work. Completion of the designing and calculation of the main parts of transformer, including core, KVA rating, dimension of coils, copper weight and core weight etc. as:
