Project Summary
There are different sign languages being used all over the world such as British sign language (BSL), American sign language (ASL), Arabic sign language (ArSL). In our project, the purpose of system is to introduce a sign language translator for Pakistan Sign Language. The proposed system will take some Urdu text (letter or numeral) or an audio input and a particular sign will be displayed against that text or audio. Input will be matched with database. So this system will help to remove the difficulty for the hearing impaired person.
Project Objectives
As there is a noticeable amount of people in Pakistan who are deaf and a lot of work done is needed for the development of Pakistan sign language. There are many people who don’t even know about PSL signs/gestures. Urdu is the eighth largest spoken language in the world. Still very less work is done on its computational linguistics identification of different terms in this area demands a lot of work. Our aim is to develop a system that can provide facilities to the deaf or hearing impaired person by converting the text/audio into the corresponding sign language.
Project Implementation Method
Input text storE either in the form of word.The input text is entered into the system through keyboard.The parameters obtained from processing input text is compared with database. After matching correct values the corresponding result is displayed.Input given to system is text then output is sign language image which has meaning of that text.
Benefits of the Project
Our system can provide facilities to the deaf or hearing impaired person and ease the communication between the normal and the impaired person.
Technical Details of Final Deliverable
A software based system which will be helpful when implemented in deaf schools.it provide ease to teachersand parents in order to understand the signs of different urdu words and make it easy to let deaf students understand is as well.
