Telemedicine Application for Rural Areas of Pakistan

Devise a Software As A Service (SAAS) which will aptly enable patients in rural areas to access healthcare via interactive video-calling technology. Moreover, it will provide a platform for medical students who are not practicing their profession due to various reasons.

Project Summary

Devise a Software As A Service (SAAS) which will aptly enable patients in rural areas to access healthcare via interactive video-calling technology. Moreover, it will provide a platform for medical students who are not practicing their profession due to various reasons.

Project Objectives

  • Provide healthcare in rural areas even if clinics/healthcare facilities may not be available.
  • Patients will not need to travel, healthcare services will be available at door steps.
  • Improved health status of population in rural areas.
  • Reduction in workload for healthcare centers in surrounding areas.
  • Providing medical students a platform where they can perform their dexterity effortlessly.
  • To provide a cost saving alternative.
  • The program is reliable, secure and delivers a user-friendly experience.

Project Implementation Method

Telemedicine application  involes a web application in the first phase and a cross platform application in the second phase repectively. 

For web application we intend to use Angular JS as a web application development framework.

Openmrs based concepts will be employed in the Management and Record System using RestAPIs.

Opentok (WebRTC) will be used for efficient video calling and enhanced expirence in the areas of low conectivity.

Express JS will be used for server side programming.

Payment module will be implemented.

Native Script will be used for the development of crossplatform application.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

TeleMedicine is anticipated to be a cloud deployed Software as a Service (SaaS) comprised of a web applictaion and a cross platform moblie application which will be enable patients to have appointments, visits and consultancy with doctor via interactive video calling faclity with e-payment.
