Project Summary

Since our daily life dependncies of enrgy are moving towards renewable energy sources. One of the widely used renewable energy source used in domestic and for commercial purpose to get electrical power is solar pv cells' plate. These panels mostly kept on the roofs or installed on a very large scale on ground but they get dusty with time and reduces power efficiency. So, cleasning them requires a lot of human force and hardwork. That's why we are designing a solar panel cleaning system which could dust off the solar panels using pressurized water spray on panels without human intervention. In result, it enhances output power of panels and saves power from getting wasted. 

 System will be controlled with IOT dashboard through laptop to monitor and clean panels periodically using adjustible timer. In this way there will be no need of manual cleaning in field.

other than this, watwer will come from water tank. if this syetem is used in domestic solar panels plants then watwer will come from house's water tank and if this system is implemeted on a large scale than water either come from ground using extra pumps or from built-in water tank.

Project Objectives

  • Design affordabel, widely used & user-friendly solar panel cleaning sytem.
  • Design a cleaning system that can easily be installed on homes and industries with a long life cycle & can be controlled with an IoT dashboard.
  • Design a cleaning system that could increase the output power/efficiency of soalr panels.

Benefits of the Project

  • No human force will be required to clean thousands of solar panels in large plants in industries or a person to go upstairs on the roof to clean the panel of their home
  • If used in homes, the cleaning system would be attached to the water pipes of their home's water tanks and no further material will be needed.
  • Clean the solar panels thoroughly to maximize their power efficiency by using less water 
  • Using pressurized water spray through nozzles attached to the sides of the panel would leave no dust on the surface of PV cells that block light
  • Our project will use an IoT dashboard through which we would be able to control and know the history of cleaning solar panels
  • Timing can be set for panels to get cleaned. It would be user-ended to modify the timing and period of water spray on panels.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Our final deliverable will be the hardware and software-based full project that will contain a solar panel with nozzles attached at the top of it and an electric motor with a small pipe at the back of the panel. The system would be controlled with an ESP-8266 microcontroller and other supporting circuitry like a 5-volt relay module, DC controller & LCD, etc that would be in a closed box at the side with which the laptop is attached using LAN.
