It is part of human psychology that the learning increases with visual aids and hands-on practice. For that purpose, practical work is very important for students to understand the theoretical concepts of their studies. Hence, educational institutes provide the students with the facility of laboratories for a practical demonstration. We want to facilitate the educational institutes to provide lab experiences at a low cost, in a better, safe, and economical way, educate students through the web-based virtual 3D laboratory. Star Lab is a web-based virtual laboratory for students where students can learn about precautions, tools used in labs, perform experiments with guidance at each step if needed.

Project Objectives

In this project, we are focusing on practical work besides theory. As we know without practical work it is very difficult for students to learn about the topic. We are trying to create a web-based virtual laboratory for students. Students can learn about precautions in the beginning and this tool will warn students about the possible damages/issues if they don’t follow these precautions in Real-world. Then they will learn about tools, their proper usage, and how to handle/use them in different situations. Then they will learn how to perform experiments with guidance at each step.

Project Implementation Method

Our main focus is to facilitate the Pakistan’s education system like schools colleges. This web-app will be accessible to all students and they can perform practical experiments and learn the most from the lesson. The user interface of the app is very user friendly and everyone can easily use it

Benefits of the Project

In the context of Pakistan, we don’t have enough labs, we don’t have enough skilled and trained lab assistants. Chemicals and tools are expensive and not available easily so most of the schools and colleges can’t afford them. Safety of the students, teachers, tools, and surrounding in a lab is a challenging task. Most of the time the safety of students, teachers, and the lab is compromised. Labs are not easily accessible to everyone and not everyone can afford them.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

It would be a web-based laboratory that will allow students to learn practical studies.

We will use the very reliable, fast, and mature backend language Elixir which is based on erlang.

We will use on the frontend side three.js and vue.js single page application javascript frameworks.
