Surveillance cameras  are a good way of monitoring your home or your business. They can be viewed from almost any location that has a internet connection. This allows owners to keep an eye on their property while they are away. Our surveillance system will be determining crime

Project Summary

Surveillance cameras  are a good way of monitoring your home or your business. They can be viewed from almost any location that has a internet connection. This allows owners to keep an eye on their property while they are away.

Our surveillance system will be determining crime and other unusual activities.

It will have different functionalities such as face recognition, object detection, certain activity detection, instant notifications and greeting facilities using voice bot. 

We have 2 different security levels for authorized and unauthorized persons.

We will be detecting authorized persons as Green frames (Full ACCESS) and the user will be able to open the door from his own mobile application at the gate.

We will be detecting unauthorized persons as Red frames (No ACCESS) and the owner will be able to open the door through the mobile application from inside the house/office or if they want then they can interact with the guest through voice bot service on the system.
In activity detection we will take certain ideal situations such as kidnaping, snatching and a notification will be displayed on the owners mobile app and a buzzer will start beeping loud so everyone get notified about the unusual activity taking place.

The objects such as ammunition i.e. shot guns, pistols, revolver will also be detected by the spy cam and a notification will send and buzzer will start beeping and the images will be captured as soon as it detects some unusual activity (These images are saved for later viewing reference).

The enhanced voice bot facility is the key factor that it can talk to the guest and ask their name, the guest can record his message at the gate which can be played by the user on their mobile application.

System constantly monitors camera for motion. The data will be saved on a local database as well as on the cloud database incase if the cloud server is down the camera still works effectively and can get data from the local database for monitoring and detecting persons and objects.

The camera input is constantly fed to the raspberry pi processor. The camera input is constantly processed by processor for any motion. If any activity is detected, the system goes into alert mode. The same system will be deployed over the computer system so instead of Raspberry pi OS it will be connected to the Computer OS. 

Project Objectives

  • Instant detection of intruders and ammunition which helps in prevent crime from occurring.
  • The sheer thought of getting caught red-handed are intimidating enough for mischief- makers to be on their best behavior as they would know that their identity and illegal activity have been caught.
  • Monitor the activities of people visiting your home and offices as well as the goings-on at these places.
  • Improve the home surveillance system through fast notification services.
  • Can gather evidences & act as an eye witnesses for a legal scenario.
  • Maintain records of a crime or a minor tiff, the camera chronicles it, thereby making it easy for you to investigate the actual happenings.
  • It can help reduce crime, and create a safer workplace for employee. 

Project Implementation Method

Design Phase 

  • Design phase includes the deigning of embeded system, using camera, adapter and raspberry pi
  • Design the application that send instatnt notifications to user

Implementation Phase

  • The survelliance camera capture live video, and is able to detect object, people and activity
  • The camera is connected with the raspberry pi or a computer system, which transmit data to the cloud, and send notifications to user
  • Their is also a voice bot, which interact with user,and the guest
  • The camera is trained enough to detect objects, selective housemates and certain activities, we train model using image dataset
  • For Voice Bot we used builtin API of IBM Watson, which make it easy to communicate 

Testing Phase

  • Unit Testing: Each and every component (camera input, bot, mobile app etc) check independently that it provides functionality that is required.
  • Integration Testing: Components will integrate and then test according to requirements.

  • System Testing: Whole system test and verify that the model is trained accordingly and there is no lacking or inaccuracy in detecting objects.

  • Functionality Testing:Following test will be perform to check overall functionality

    • The testing of intruder detection.

    • The testing of ammunition detection.

    • The testing of activity detection.

    • The testing of android application.

    • The testing of camera connectivity with the raspberry or the PC.

    • The testing of database connection with the raspberry or the PC.

    • The testing of android mobile phone with the raspberry or the PC.

    • The testing of model trained for the image processing in PC/Raspberry.

    • The testing response of processing from both cloud and local DB.

Software Deliverables

  • Mobile Application will develop by using Android Studio.
  • Model for Object Detection, Faces and Activity: Tensorflow, OpenCv.
  • Model for Voice Bot: IBM Watson API

Hardware Deliverables

  • Camera: will provide computer vision
  • Raspberry PI 4: will use to provide all functionality.
  • Speaker: will use to communicate with the person on spot
  • Smart Lock: will use to open the door through application
