Speed Synchronization of Industrial Motors
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryThe aim of this project is synchronization of multiple motors using wireless technology. This is applicable to many industries wherein all motors speed are desired to be synchronized. One motor acts as transmitter and all the rest as receivers. Thus, if a particular speed is set in the transmitter then all other motors speed would be matched to the same speed of the main motor. Each motor has a closed loop feedback mechanism providing RPM reference whose output is fed to the controller in the circuit. A LCD used to display the speed and one can enter the desired speed with help of a keypad to obtain for all motors.
Project Objectives-
To design and investigate the proposed method
-
To design control system for proposed synchronization technique
-
To implement hardware for prototype production
Speed of synchronization of multiple motors which is carried out wirelessly by microcontroller chip .The speed of motor is sensed by IR pair and is displayed on LCD. Each motor has closed loop feedback mechanism providing PWM. The required speed is entered using keypad. The motor is interfaced through opto-coupler which drives the motor. Pulses are generated according to entered speed and motor is then adjusted to that speed and maintained it.
Benefits of the Project-
Vast applications in robotics, textile industry, paper mills, and rolling pins
-
Being a wireless technique, it provides us with a simple and more economical solution for the said problem
-
Deals with speed variations
-
Easy interface with microcontroller
The pulse width output from the microcontroller would be automatically adjusted to maintain the DC power to the motor such that the entered speed matches the running RPM. The above operation is carried out by using one opto isolator and a MOSFET for driving the motor duly interfaced from the microcontroller.
