The project “Socket Design and Control for transhumeral prosthesis” is to give a proof of Prosthetic socket is the only channel for load transfer between limb stump and prosthetic limb, so its design is most important in meeting the requirements of comfort and function. In order to improve comfort and functionality of the upper-limb prosthetic socket, this project presents a design concept of the socket in which the areas and working time of compression can be alternated in needs.

Project Objectives

Following are objectives of the project:

  1. Study of requirements for socket design
  2. Design of socket considering special design parameters
  3. 3D modeling of socket
  4. Development

       5. Testing

Project Implementation Method
  1. Study of requirements:

Study about all the requirements or parameters required for designing the suitable socket according to the limbs where it has to be fitted.

  1. Design parameters:
  1. 3D modelling of socket:

3D modelling will be done before fabrication so that different types of analysis will be done such as the designed socket is suitable for all types of limbs by considering its shape and size.  

  1. Development and testing:

After modelling, fabrication of the socket will be done and then test this socket by applying this to the amputee and the results will be recorded like any flaw in the socket, in its shape or size and also the material used.

Benefits of the Project

When an arm or other extremity is amputated or lost, a prosthetic device, or prosthesis, can play an important role in rehabilitation. For many people, an artificiallimb can improve mobility and the ability to manage daily activities, as well as provide the means to stay independent.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

1.As per our goals we are confident that we will be able to reach our goal within the identified period of one year.

2. at this time we are on the final stage of our first step i.e theoretical model, calculations and documentations

3.shortly after this we are going to practicle implementation of the project.
