Project Area of Specialization Information & Communication TechnologyProject SummaryThe number of vehicles is expanding rapidly. In this way, the workload on traffic cops is likewise expanding. Their work has massively expanded. Alongside the expansion in the number of vehicles, the issues have begun to rise which includes infringement of rules, identification of vehicle proprietors, and so on. Additionally, when somebody leaves his/her vehicle on the side of the road and leaves for someplace, it can bring about the blockage of streets and makes an issue for traffic cops. They could expect hours to manage a surge because of such people who abuse the guidelines and park their vehicles in no leaving territories.
As the number of rule infringement is increasing, the fine reserve will also increase. These records gathered are physically filled into the receipt book. There is no solid framework to gather and store this data. In this venture, we will handle these issues by building up an android application. A traffic cop just scans the number plate of a rule breaker and the application lets the cop compare the registration number and the saved record in the application's information base. If the registration number is matched, at that point, the cop will be unveiled the particulars of the outlaw. The cop would then be able to create the challan making use of the application and send it to the lawbreaker's mail address or on the cell phone.
Project ObjectivesEliminate paperwork required as the challan is generated on mobile and will be sent to the offender.
Save time both for the Traffic police officers and rule breakers.
Maintain the challans record in the database for further use.
To identify the injured person in case of an accident.
To find out the stolen vehicles.
Improve the efficiency of Traffic Police by Technology interventions.
Bring transparency of on-spot traffic challan making system.
Project Implementation MethodThe current system of tackling the traffic rules violation has many flaws and loopholes. It is a paper-pen based system. The traffic police officers have to constantly carry the receipt book to register the complaints. Hence, this system is not handy. We aim to develop an android application to tackle these problems. We are developing an application where the traffic officer needs to first register on the application. After registering, the officer needs to login into the account. The application is integrated with the central database of excise from where the already stored data of vehicle owners is acquired. Whenever a traffic cop finds a person who is violating the rule, the officer only needs to scan of offender’s vehicle number plate then the system compares the number with the central database. After processing the system shows all the details against the number (i.e. name of the owner, CNIC, address, mail address, mobile number, etc.). After retrieving the details, the officer needs to fill the challan defining the reason for challan, and generate the receipt. The receipt will be sent to the offender’s number or mail address. The challan details will also be stored in the database for further use. This system will be feasible to maintain the records and easily be accessible to the traffic police officer. Also, the System will provide user-friendly interaction to the officer without any hassle. In case of an accident, helps to identify the injured person and also help to find out stolen vehicle effectively.
Benefits of the Project- No paperwork required as the challan is generated on mobile and will be sent to the offender.
- Saves a lot of time both for the Traffic officer and rule breaker.
- Maintains the challan record in the database for further use.
- Helps Traffic officers to deal with the rush and fine the rule breaker.
- In case of an accident helps to identify the injured person.
- Help to find out stolen vehicles effectively or to find out if the vehicle is registered and legal or not.
- Online connectivity to Excise Database with the e-challan system.
- The system shall be able to retrieve vehicle owners' credentials from the Excise database to minimize data entry.
- The system shall be able to retrieve vehicle details by scanning the Vehicle Registration number.
- While filling challans in the android smartphone, it should be possible to roll back to the previous screen any time, change the data and come back to the current screen.
- Whenever any traffic police officer is discharged, or if retired from service, there should be a provision in the e-challan system to disqualify his/her access or rights to the system.
- Some fields such as driver name, vehicle’s registration number, violation type, date, time, and location should be mandatory.
- A unique challan id should be generated for each challan.
- Traffic police officers should be able to issue challans only for a violation they are authorized to register.
