Project Summary

Communication is a sending and receiving information source in the form of verbal and nonverbal or in visual form. Verbal communication is the use of words in the form of written and oral form. Nonverbal communication is to convey your emotions and thoughts without use of verbal language. Visual communication involves sharing images with each other. We are using visual communication and send images in the form of text using SMS because SMS sends in text form. Communication includes two modes for transmitting information from one source to another which are internet and without internet. Internets mediums of sending images are Facebook, Whatsapp, Gmail etc. And non internet medium is SMS from cellular network. This application is basically fulfill the need of transferring the image through SMS without internet. When there is no internet people still want to communicate via sending images between them. People are regularly use SMS for sending text messages. SMS text messaging is used everywhere in the world. That is why we choose to use SMS (short messaging service) to send or receive image. The goal is to build an application which take image and transfer it into as fewer SMS as possible. If SMS message is larger than 140 bytes (8-bits), so that multiple SMS messages can be generated and sent over network for a single logical message. The image can be of different size. and so that the number of message is increase when we convert it into text. We can use encoding techniques to reduce the image size so that we convert it into fewer SMS and easily send it to the receiver. We take image from gallery and encode it into a text form using Bitmap Technique which convert image pixels in the form of text and send the converted text to the receiver. After that receiver receives the message and paste the text into the application and then convert it into image. This strategy can help people to transmit image through SMS without internet. Both sender and receiver must have this application to transmit the image.

Project Objectives

The objective of this  SMS image communicator:-

 1. Is to send image through SMS (short messaging service) without internet to any remote location.

2. It’s purpose is to compress image.

3. Convert  image into characters.

Project Implementation Method

 SENDER SIDE:- 

1. Open the application, two buttons will appear (image to text and text to image ) .
2. Then press (image to text) button it will open Image to Text Screen.
3. Choose image from gallery.
4. The image can be of different size and so that the number of message is increase when we convert it into text. So we have to compress the image through bitmap resize image function to reduce the height and weight of the image. In this system, 30% value is assigned to reduce the pixels of image. And bitmap compress function is used to reduce the quality at 80% so that its converted text is shorter for sending through SMS.
5. In result of Convert to Text Button Press, the image is converted into  some number of  message depend on image size because in text messaging only 56 messages of 160 characters in each message can be sent together in a single form of text. So, if SMS message is larger than 9000 characters means 160 character * 56 messages so that multiple SMS messages can be generated and sent over network for a single logical message.
6. Copy each message one by one to send, but also there is send SMS button to send directly through a messages App of the phone.

RECIEVER SIDE:- Receiver receive messages in sequence. Receiver copy those messages one by one and paste into the application and convert those text text into image and have option to save in phones storage.

Benefits of the Project

This application’s working is without internet. It provide the facility to compress image . It provide the facility to convert image into ASCII characters.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

We use Android studio software , XML for frontend , Java for backend, Android operating system, Bitmap algorithm for convert image to text.
