challenged persons by providing them with some sort of mobility that would greatly help them. A smart wheelchair consists of a major controller unit that allows the user to provide the input in the form of a joystick or accelerometer or a voice command. The controller unit then synthesizes the command and takes required action so as to move the wheelchair to the particular position

Project Objectives

This project will focus on controlling  the wheelchair with head movement using image processing

Where there is a high level of incapacity, solutions are basically centered on the use of voice

This project will focus on  obstacle detection using sensor

This project will also focus on controlling the wheelchair-using joystick

We aim at developing a fully functional electronically controlled wheelchair that is robust at usage, simple, responsive, and error immune. Also, we intend to make it affordable so that it can be used by everyone suffering from this disability.

Project Implementation Method

In this project, we will make the smart wheelchair we will implement by making the hardware prototype of the wheelchair by following way

Then will design the Embedded system design such as

the placement of the sensor and all the programming involved in using them 

first, we will make the controlling using the head movement by image processing and then using the joystick and then voice control.

It will be less expensive than all the electric wheelchair available on the market and more advance

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

This project will consist of two dc wiper motors which will move the wheelchair this will make the wheelchair carry the weight of 80 kg approx and using the camera in front of the head it will be able to move by head movement using the image processing method. This wheelchair can also move with the help of voice and joystick. this wheelchair will also detect the obstacle.

The minimum required current for the motor is 1.6
amps at 70 rpm, maximum at 4 amps to run it at 106 rpm (without load).
