Water is very important for irrigation but the water is reduces day by day. Due to water shortage and to save the water usage the smart water distribution is needed. The purpose of making our project is that the smart distribution of water and theft detection. Therefore Smart water distribution system is developed to control outlet gates which used to distribute water to fields from canal by SMS/mobile app and also provide the status information of the distribution of the water to the user. We can identify the water theft by knowing the flow rate of the water of distributary canal. The main advantage of this project is to optimizing water usage by water management. This proves a smart way of irrigation and this will automate the irrigation system.
The gates are open/closed by sending SMS sent by mobile app. The status message ON/OFF sent back by GSM on the mobile. Whenever a message sent to the GSM module, it transfers the message to the Micro-Controller. The Micro Controller will check for the syntax and open the gate 1 or gate 2. Flow meter sensor with every gate which takes the reading of the water flow when the water is distributed.We set reference water flow during distribution in the controller.When the water flow rate is decrease from the reference value through the GSM we receive the message of water theft.
Water theft detection
To control gates which are placed at front of each field
Implementation of gate and flow sensor in front of field:
Solenoid valve is used as a type of gate in the front of field. Flow sensor is placed with the field which measure the flow rate of the water distributed. Gate is controlled by the arduino controller. GSM is used to control the gate from everywhere by sending one SMS through mobile.
Flow sensor is placed with the gate which measure the flow rate of the water distributed. For the detection of water theft we place a flow meter sensor with gate1 and gate2 which takes the reading of the water flow when the water is distributed. When the gates are open and water is distributed to the user we set a reference value of the water flow. Whenever the water flow rate is decrease from the reference value the arduino controller sent a message of water theft to officer mobile through the GSM. We set reference water flow during the water flow in normal routine and during distribution. When the water is distributed to the user or not distributed then controller will compare the value of water flow rate with reference value of flow rate if the value is equal to the reference value so there is no water theft but if the value greater than the reference water flow rate so water is stolen.
Easy to detect water thefting which is the main problem of the farmers.
