The title of our project is, Smart Under-Frequency Load Shedding System for Industry Plants. 
In case of loss of any generator, system's frequency starts decreasing and to stop further declining of system frequency, which may lead to total system collapse, the fastest way is temporary disconnect a portion of electrical load from the system known as Under Frequency Load Shedding. But we will be adding some advanced features as well, in which memory of recent black-outs along with fault location will be saved, and it will help the plant operator to analyze the recent plant trips incidents, and implement Six Sigma Technique.
Our final goal is to make 'Smart UFLS System for Industrial Plant'. With the help of ML, we will be implementing this feature. In which, system will remember the location and causes of recent tripping incidents and also continuously monitoring the recent changes in system, it will predict any future tripping situations in advance. So overall it will help in Predictive Maintenance and increasing the Efficiency of the system.

Project Objectives

The real motivation behind our project is to save industrial plants from complete blackout incidents, as that results in loss of large capital, in terms of restarting the entire plant. So by implementing the Smart Under-Frequency Load Shedding System in Industrial Plant, it will help industries detect any future tripping situation and load will be adjusted automatically with respect to that situation. Hence minimum amount of non-priority load will shed to maintain the system's frequency at normal level.

Project Implementation Method

Firstly, we are simulating the Under-Frequency Load Shedding on our selected industrial system in PSSE - SEMENS & E-Tap Software. Once we have simulated and achieved the desired results, then we will be working to make it smart and to train dataset model with the help of ML and as a result it will automatically analyze the conditions and will shed the minimum amount of non-priority load required to keep the frequency of the system constant. We are also working on designing its hardware prototype!

Benefits of the Project

As currently UFLS is implemented at majority of the industrial plants, but our idea is to make them smart. By implementing Smart Under-Frequency Load Shedding System for Industrial Plant, it will help them detect any tripping condition beforehand and minimum amount of load required to maintain system's frequency will be shed. So although that there is a lot of work already done in domain of Under-frequency Load Shedding Systems, but to make them Smart is really a new idea and has never been implemented before. And also, it can be easily implemented by considering all technological standards and conditions of Pakistan.

This project can help industrial plants save million of rupees as they can save their plant from complete blackout situations in case of any generation loss or tripping. As far technology is concerned, it can be updated with the currently implemented UFLS philosophy implemented at the majority of the plants. So that wouldn't cost much in terms of money.
