Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryTraffic signals are the most convenient method of controlling traffic in a busy junction. Present traffic signals fail to control the traffic effectively when a particular lane has got more traffic than the other lanes. PLC or Programmable logic controller was used to control a mechatronics system using specific functions. The intelligent or “Smart Traffic Control” is one which would be able to calculate the vehicle density in a lane at a 4-way crossing and then decide the priority automatically using a program. In PLC the status of the sensors are checked and certain logical operations are performed to decide which lane is to be serviced first and provides output signal to the traffic lights poles for ON or OFF the Red, yellow or Green lights and ON time is depend on the specific priorities. Smart traffic control system is more efficient system then the previous traffic system just because of only traffic light control in the smart traffic control system deal some new features in which they are given below:
1. Intelligent decision by according to the density of the traffic in lanes and extend the time of that lane except than other 3 lanes.
2. VIP protocol and emergency situation for the ambulance. 3. Monitoring All the signal and controls.
4. Alarm system in case of someone broke the signal.
5. At night it will set on default setting.

• Provide orderly arrange movement of traffic. • Reduce the accident and chaos.
• Provide the continuous movement of traffic.
• Increase the capacity of intersection.
• Rush traffic area take the more time to pass the traffic than another signal.
• In emergency Situation the signal will green until protocol or ambulance will cross the signal.
Project Implementation MethodThe work that I have chosen is a 4 Way Traffic controller. The basic methodology behind the design is to avoid the collision of vehicles by providing appropriate signals to different directions for a limited time slot, after which the next waiting drivers will be given same treatment. In this way a cycle will be established which will control the traffic. In the First switching based traffic light control circuit, the traffic lights are controlled using switches i.e., when the first switches are on the Green light is on in East and West and the Red Light is on in North and South. Similarly, when the second switch is on the Green light is on in the North and south and the Red light is on in the East and west and when the third switch is on all Yellow lights are on.
Now in intelligent traffic system the sensor senses the density of traffic and operate the signal if the one signal has high number of vehicles other so it operates first and its green light time will also increase

The technical detail of this project is given below:
Traffic control, supervision of the movement of people, goods, or vehicles to ensure efficiency and safety. without the traffic control system there are so many rushes on the road and face the many difficult to the drivers due the chaos the chance of accident will increase about (90% - 95%). Without the traffic control system traffic will jam every where due to this people waste time and management will destroy and chaos situation everywhere. We can control the traffic independently the one police man control the all the traffic so this very difficult to control the high number traffic because transportation is very important if we go any where we use the vehicle and road so if suppose no traffic signal on any road. So, it is difficult to reach the destination in time because there are so many rushes. Now a day we use the timer-based traffic control system means it works on time delay but it has three problem therefore we make the inelegance traffic signal which solve the problem which occur in time-based system it will reduce the stress of police man. It is very efficient in the emergency situations because we control our system through the computer /laptop so it is very easy to control and monitor the traffic very easy. This project reduces the capacity of traffic through the sensor which sense the capacity of the vehicle and give the green signal time increase and reduce. This system takes cares the emergency and protocol situation automatically so we not use any police man to manually control traffic in these situations. In this project we use the alert system which is active when anyone break the signal and alert the police man which perform his duty on this traffic signal system.
