This system will be based on very advanced technologies of current time i.e. Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, Internet of things etc. to help the support the police department in a digital way to decrease the number of road accidents occurring daily. In 2019, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety,  total of 5,014 motorcyclists died in fatalities in bicycle accidents. Bicycle accidents without a helmet are far more likely to result in death or brain injury than those in which the cyclist's head was adequately protected.

The proposed system will solve all occurring flaws in the present transportation system and will facilitate the police department to ensure the regular obeying of traffic laws by citizens. The system will check whether citizen (on bike) is wearing the helmet or not it will also check the criminal record of the citizen by verifying it with the citizen’s biometrics. The system will also be capable of verifying the documents of vehicles and drivers. In case of any deficiency detected with specified rules, the system will issue a challan to that citizen. The main goal of this project is to force the public to obey all the laws which ultimately will decrease the number of road accidents.

Project Objectives Project Implementation Method

This system will be using very advanced technologies of this time i.e. Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Internet of things, Service Oriented Architecture, Image processing, Databases etc. In software system there are mobile application, Desktop application. Besides of these, there are cloud infrastructure, databases etc. Though, this system pretends the Service-oriented architecture.  To process in the server application Artificial Intelligence techniques will be used to enhance the efficiency and performance of the system. Cloud Infrastructure will be used to synchronize the data between different components of the system. Internet of Things technology enables, different sensors and different components of the system to be connected and communicate efficiently. Image Processing techniques will be used to extract the useful information from the image capture with camera.

The project is a hybrid system i.e. Software and Hardware. To design hardware, Arduino will be used which is a microcontroller used to design electronic circuits that can be programmed. Different sensors will be used to design the hardware components including, Camera, GSM, Biometric etc. Camera sensor will be the mostly used sensor in this project because every detection will be done with camera. Though, A camera will be used which will detect the helmets, documents which will then be processed in the server system. Biometric sensor will be used to detect the person, once a person puts his/her biometric, this system will detect and recognize that person and will check whether that person has previous criminal record or not, or whether he/she has any pending dues. GSM module will be used to synchronize the data with other components of the system.

To develop the software component of the system, there will be two application developed i.e. the desktop application and smart application. The desktop application will be developed with help of python programming language which will work as the central server of the system. This component of the system will mainly work for the verification and validation of all the data. When the Arduino component detects the helmet and all documents, they will be sent to this system which will recognize, verify and process as per instruction using AI techniques. Smart application will be for ease of the police for which very trending technology i.e. Flutter technology, will be used to develop.

Since this system rely on the service oriented architecture though, there should be some mechanism for all these components to communicate, Cloud will work as an intermediator between all these components, so all the communication is done properly and efficiently. In this project, Google Cloud will be used, in which we will use Firestore and Firebase real-time databases.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Final deliverable of the proposed project will be a Software and Hardware integrated system.  There will be 2 software applications i.e. Desktop application and Smart application (android), and Arduino based hardware architecture containing different sensors i.e. Camera, GSM, biometric etc. The smart phone application will be capable of running on any android operating system latest than android 4.0. However, the desktop application will run on minimum 512 MB ram. Since the system rely on service oriented architecture though, there should a stable internet connection so that data is synchronized properly with cloud.

Arduino based circuit with the camera, GSM will be placed in police check post or toll plaza. This system will send its data with help of the GSM module to the Cloud from where the server application can process. When camera detected the helmet and documents it stores the vehicle numbers, and documents based information in the cloud. The server application will download all the data from the cloud and process it, and shows the output on the screen. In case any deficiency is found in the vehicle or its driver, the challan will be issued to the owner/driver of the vehicle. The system will use biometric to verify the driver/owner of the driver and will also check his/her previous records. Mobile application for ease of the stakeholders so they can see and manage in their mobiles. The communication between server, Arduino and Mobile application will be using Cloud platform.
