The Smart Switch Board is a System which enables the users to control the home appliances with help of an Android App via Bluetooth. User can control as well as monitor all the devices. In this project we also control the equipment and devices on the basis of Voltage sense i.e. we define the range of the voltages for the project that needed to show some action if electricity fluctuates from these defined ranges otherwise user can set his/her customized range from the application. Another core feature of this SMART system we will develop, a product that set the timing for the electricity usage and other related materials for the electricity to prevent the users from electric shock and to save the energy consumption. For sensing and other related thinking, we can set the temperature sensing device that senses the surrounding temperature by defined threshold if the temperature exceeds that defined threshold then the devices based on the temperature will be switched.
The outcome of this project will be a very cost effective Smart Switch Board with a very good control and monitoring system. It will create an ease for the user by reducing the efforts and especially the old people to control the devices remotely. Implementation and usage will be very simple and easily understandable by the users.
Project ObjectivesThis project is an implementation to the idea of controlling the home appliances through our smart phones. This technology is used for make our home to a smart home. Smart home consist the home appliances like switch board and panel are with smart technology. In Smart Switch Board, user can control the home appliances through a smart phone using Android App via Bluetooth. The AC supply is given through the relay module and relay is operated through Arduino.
The Primary goals of the project are to:
- Control our devices through a mobile phone and through some on-board controls.
- Set timer for devices to reduce usage of electricity.
- Sense the voltages and control devices accordingly to reduce damages.
- Sense temperature and control devices accordingly to keep the consistent temperature in environment.
- Provide the Secure Communication between Application and SMART Switch Board.
As different works have bee done on Smart Switches and controlling the home Appliances via mobile application using different connectivity media like Wi-Fi etc. Our proposed system works same like the systems discussed earlier but with some additional features mentioned in the aims of the project.
This system will be consist of a Mobile Application and a Smart Switch Board. Mobile Application will be developed using Android Studio and can be used only on Android OS. Smart Switch Board will have a Bluetooth Module, Arduino Micro Controller, Relay Module, LED Display, some Sensors (i.e. temperature sensor and voltage sensor) and some onboard Switch Buttons.
Our system uses the Bluetooth technology for communication between Mobile Application and Switch Board. As anyone can connect to the Bluetooth device and that’s way, there is a security risk associated with it that someone can create violation. But in this system a user must be authenticated using a password/pin to control the devices and avoid the security risk.
Once user is connected with the Smart Switch Board, a synchronization will be done between application and Smart Switch Board to lead the actual states of the devices. Now user can control and monitor the devices connected to the Switch Board. User can change the configuration of each switch button to set the schedule, timer, voltage range and temperature range to control the devices’ states. Switch board will save the configuration and will act accordingly.
