As we know that “Street Lights” are the major power
consuming elements in any city. We frequently come
across many cases where the street light will be turned ON
even in the day time, which is completely against the
energy conservation rule. Therefor this type of continous
lightning may result in the increase rates and charges of
the electricity. The main purpose and use of streetlight is in
transportation after the dusk time or when the day
atmospheric light is lessin intensity. So, the design and
controlling of the street lights is an important field of work
for maintaining safe transportation in our daily life. Many
researchers have done many numbers of researches in
order to provide a less energy consuming street light
system. In our project we have made our efforts to present
an smart street light system with an reduced
energy/power consumption in comparison to the previous
and present lighting systems by observing and studying
many kinds of street lighting lamps, which include lamps
and lights like CFL, incandescent and Light-Emitting diode
(LED), where we will be showing that the LEDs are more
than any other lighting systems which are present in the
current place. A recent study by some researchers has also
stated that the operating and working life of the LED is
higher when compared to any other lighting lamps and
lights, this is the main reason that some of the state
government have also started to produce LED lights to give
for the people. The Arduino UNO board is used as the brain
to control all the process of the project.

Project Objectives

A street light, lamppost, street lamp, light standard, or
lamp standard is a raised source of light on the edge of a
road or walkway, which is turned on or lit at a certain time
every night. Modern lamps may also have light-sensitive
photocells to
turn them on at dusk, off at dawn, or activate automatically in
dark weather. In older lighting this function would have been
performed with the aid of a solar dial. It is not uncommon for
street lights to be on poles which have wires strung between
them, or mounted on utility poles.
This project exploits the working of a transistor in saturation
region and cut-off region to switch ON and switch OFF the
lights at appropriate time with the help of an
electromagnetically operated switch. Automatic Streetlight
needs no manual operation of switching ON and OFF. The
system itself detects whether there is need for light or not.
When darkness rises to a certain value.

Project Implementation Method

By implementing the latest sensing and IoT technologies
in agriculture practices, every aspect of traditional farming
methods can be fundamentally changed. Currently, seamless
integration of wireless sensors and the IoT in smart agriculture can raise agriculture to levels which were previously
unimaginable. By following the practices of smart agriculture, IoT can help to improve the solutions of many traditional
farming issues, like drought response, yield optimization,
land suitability, irrigation, and pest control. Figure 3 lists a
hierarchy of major applications, services and wireless sensors
being used for smart agriculture applications. While, major
instances in which the advanced technologies are helping
at various stages to enhance overall efficiency

Benefits of the Project

Our system maneuvering of street lamp using GSM
technology is divided into three modules based on its
functionality
? Street lamp switching on and off
? Sensor module
? GSM module for maneuvering
1. Street lamp switching on and off:
? The solar energy that is energized and stored in
the storage area is being used if and only if it is
inuse.
? The switching on and off is taken care by the
automated structure that is been programmed
using the ardiuno with the help of the IRsensor.
2. Sensor module:
? the sensor module which is integrated with 2
sensors in it and those are: IR sensor and LDR.
3. GSM Module:
? This module is the main hub of the project
which maneuverers the street lamping system.
? The main work of this module is to get the
information or record the information and send
the same to the main server. The module is on
the whole collaborated with a micro controller
which controls the recording or intimidating the
information.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

From this project we conclude that this is a system which is
need of implementation for our country especially because the
street lamps are not maneuvered properly by the management.
This project isn’t the one which has not even come but some
advancement we have made and have done the project. This
project also has much advancement which can be tried in the
futurescope
