Now a days, technologies enabled mankind to go from a primitive way of living, to lives where we have access to the world at our fingertips. With advances in technology, the difficulties that usually face in the past have been overcome or greatly reduced. If we discuss about high weight of products that people carry with them and their billing criteria usually takes a lot of time in Big Shopping Malls and other marketplaces then there should be some kind of technology to overcome this problem. To solve this problem automatically, we designed a “Smart Shopping Trolley”.
Smart Shopping Trolley is a Robot which is able to track and follow the targeted person. The system is designed to provide a contactless transport and instant billing of the products. A smart shopping trolley can be more helpful in Large Shopping Malls where every human time is precious and can cost us to a great extent.
Project ObjectivesThe main objectives of “Smart Shopping Trolley” are as follows:
- Helps to carry the weightage of person.
- To digitalize people with contactless transport.
- Reduce man effort in domestic & Industrial Area.
- Helps people in health maintenance to avoid from luggage weight.
- Would count items and its price automatically in shopping trolley using barcode scanner.
- Won’t require to stand at long queue for checking out items.
The customer scan the products one by one through barcode reader and put them in cart. The information generated form barcode reader is then sent to database and from there it will show the product on the cart’s screen and add them into cart after finishing the shopping the cart lead it to payment option.
To make the cart follows you the electronics will be installed in the box cutout under the platform. We used an Arduino Uno and a 5v battery to power the GPS Module, Bluetooth Module and control logic. A battery is used to power the motors. A HC-05 Bluetooth module was mounted at the front of the platform for better range.
- Cart will be connected through our Mobile Bluetooth and the GPS module is connected with Satellite, the cart follow the targeted person through cart’s own location to person’s phone location via GPS Coordinates.
- When Mobile’s Bluetooth is ON then the HMC6883L compass will helps to find the targeted person to follow him.
Smart Cart will follow you through your phone's coordinates and customer can do self-checkouts on the spot. Through this cart, you will experience a really awesome life. Main Benefits are as follows:

- Helping people to save time.
- To do work in appropriate manner.
- Aim to improve the shopping experience of customers and reshape the efficiency for retailers.
- Smart shopping trolley usually has a good-look, it would represent the advanced technology, the fashion and the strength of the retailer.

The smart cart is designed to Follow the customer and to make billing and payment method on the spot by connecting through the Android App
An android app connect to the cart through the mobile’s Bluetooth and the cart will follow using the location of the mobile and GPS Coordinate.
Make sure your Android device is connected with the smart shopping trolley which is paired with HC-05 Bluetooth module. Once you have everything configured property, Open App and press play! Now it should be able to start working properly. If you are outside, it will take a few seconds for the GPS to acquire a satellite lock. Once it does, it will begin flashing. Customer scan product’s barcode one by one and system will generate bill and the customer can pay it on the spot.
